It's all too common for families to have to go through this sadly especially in countries where there is little to no assistance for such hardships.

In Europe too most countries give very inadequate help. Surely the medicine is covered to the most extent but then... Everything else almost has been provitised and made for profit. Transport, childcare, education... All have become industries that pray on human needs that are actually quite basic. The poor spend all of their income to fulfill these necessities for their kids.
