Absolutly. Leave the wallet open, running and unlocked. Your wallet then takes a little bit of computational power and helps to secure the network, it is this that you are rewarded for with 'steak mined coins'.
Think of it as your wallet, when open and unlocked, is mining. Turn the wallet/pc off and no mining.


almost 2 days now with wallet opened and nothing i have encrypted it and unlocked it so not sure there much more i can do. Does staking not work if i receive coins within 24hours?


they have to be in there , and stay there for over 24 hours. if you put more in, then those will need to wait 24 hrs.  yet you should stake on the ones you had in there previously. it sometimes takes  longer depending on where you are in the line of other stakers.
I think that is how it works.
