Go to the AppData\Roaming\VeriCoin folder and erase everything except wallet.dat and vericoin.conf files (I made a backup copy of those just in case). Then restart the wallet. That worked for me.

Remember, DON'T erase the wallet.dat file or you will lose all your coins. Hope that helps.
