Masternodes dont use the GUI wallet clients you're used to, you run the CLI darkcoind daemon on the masternode server. But yes that darkcoind needs to be the latest RC (10.xx.xx) version. Linux is the only sane option if you're running a masternode...  Wink

If you're thinking of doing this on your home Windows box, you need to rethink that plan.

I don't know why people keep propagating the idea that Linux is inherently secure. If you set up any kind of server without any knowledge of what you're actually doing, setting it up on Linux won't help you shit. If you don't know about security stuff setting up a server is generally just a bad move and should be thought over. Please stop spreading that irresponsible "Use Linux and you're perfectly safe" myth. The penguin is not going to magically secure you if you don't know how to make use of its tools.

edit: Rant over. No offense!

No one is saying that Linux is inherently secure. We're saying there are so many holes in Windows that you don't know about and have no control over that you can't make it secure even if you're a Jenius. Linux can be made into a fortress. Windows will always be a convenience store clerk at best.

Linux can be made secure much easier that windows, as in linux, you know what you have, and if you want, you have also all the sources so you can check if you really want to.
