Litecoin was reduntant the second it it outlived it's 'GPU/FPGA/ASIC resistant' claims.
Smart guys were sucking up bulk of supply 1 generation ahead of the masses. Bitcoin never made such claims. Litecoin was specifically created to offer SAFE HAVEN from this, which it failed at.
Now, many more innovative coins exist, that rightfully should take over the 2nd place.
Litecoin never claimed to be asics resistant.
I've told you before, and I'll tell you again.
YES it was. of I've bolded the relevant sections.
We heard you like mining, so we put a miner on your miner, so you can mine while you mine.
Note: try changing -s in the miner batch to 3, 5, or 7. Experiment which is best for you.
Official Website: http://www.tenebrix.orgHello everybody!
Allow me to introduce you Tenebrix, a cryptocurrency we
(mostly ArtForz, but I contributed the name, some minor tweaks and the logo, as well as windows portability suite and cool genesis motto
) have created to provide the community with a cryptocurrency with solid GPU resistance.
It implements a proof-of-work scheme based on scrypt, a cryptographic construct specifically designed to resist creation of efficient GPU, FPGA and even ASIC implementations. You can find more about scrypt and how it can improve your stamina, masculine appeal and performance
here[
of course, certain guys ALREADY KNEW this was bullshit and was mining with private GPU optimizations while rest of public was stuck on CPU. and then R&D into fpga then ASIC port happened while everyone stuck on GPU. This was the reason for price surge, since insiders knew. Algo was deliberately set without proper TMTO guards and never fixed. When this was specifically created to resist such efforts (unlike btc) and dev team doesn't hard fork to alternative POW, which lives up to the promises because they are either paid off by asic manafacturers who spend millions on tape-out or in too deep with their holdings already and don't want to risk losses you know you have a huge problem.
In crypto circles (non cryptocurrency) such a failure is a catastrophic flaw and not tolerated. If you design something which cannot be added into rainbow table lookups and people start doing it on rainbow tables you've obviously gone wrong somewhere and need to fix. yet dev team is ignoring the issue. We're dealing with hundreds of millions of dollars here, it's no joke.
