Yep, but nobody knew. For miners the mined coins were nearly worthless and never considered to reach that worth. Standard rate for selling was something like 1000 DRK for 0.02 / 0.025 BTC and that was also the price when it hit the exchanges ~2 weeks later, gradually escalating upwards.



Exactly. I remember CHAOSiTEC rejoicing in making $8000 by selling tens of thousands of DRK to a buyer early on. I wonder how he's feeling these days?

Anyway, none of us had a time machine to know today's price, so ridiculous numbers of coins went for cheap. And this has been heavily traded ever since. The "instamine" argument is moot.
