Second, why would it matter? If AM is selling chips why should we care who is buying them?

This is an extremely risky and not so rewarding conspiracy you are suggesting.
I have no proof either way.
But the last few months have raised enough questions that this needs to be explicitly addressed in a manner that involves official statements by
many people not acting under a pseudonym that can be examined by some independent group of people. but that's the american way of dealing business. and i would be shocked if that would happen here.
