This is utter nonsense.   Marketing can be something as little as making frequent posts in the bitcointalk thread about ideas, updates, potential projects, bounties, giveaways, etc, you get the point.  This all starts from the developers.  If they aren't willing to at least do that, then the coin will just die and everything was for nothing.  Many developers do this and these coins have a decent size or growing community.  Unless...unless the devs have no stake in their own coin anymore.    This would be crazy because it's obvious to me they made something unique and fun.  There's so much potential here it would be a shame to see it go down the drain.
