First he copied wide sections of his Ph.D. thesis.

when confronted with the accusation that there may have been some "copy&paste" in his thesis he told the journalists that those accusations were "abstruse" while everyone with internet access could see:
the white lines represent the pages of his thesis where NO plagiarism was found. let that sink in.
he refused to step down, lied about every little thing, and did the most stunning political career crash in postwar german history. he had to leave the country. his key agenda was honorableness.
