I agree with you that these are not Release Candidates. They are Beta at best. There is no chance or intention of the current release ever going gold, it is not a release candidate.
Disagree that it won't survive! The complex algo has been a strong point so far, and is DRK's upper-hand in privacy and over things like ASICs and impossible block chain bloat.
