I just don't see the point of even talking about mining, I guess if I investigated more into the different algos and what not and see what my computer could handle I would mine altcoin and the likes but really is it even worth it?
It's not always about getting more coins. If Bitcoin mining becomes largely centralized, then the security of the Bitcoin protocol may be compromised, which can cause an immediate devaluation of all existing Bitcoins. Most miners only care about making a profit, which is completely understandable. However, having a single coin worth something is infinitely better than having a constantly increasing supply of coins worth nothing.
