I got an email from them on Sunday morning ~11.30AM Australia time (so about 21 hours ago).
If you sent the LTC in the maintenance window before the email came out they should help you recover them.
The LTC should not of vanished. It is probably just a bit of work for them to restore the old wallets.
Did you send it before or after the email came out ?
The problem with all these crypto's is even if the other end is down or nonexistent wallet anymore, we have no way of knowing that when we send the coins
