Because despite popular opinion on this board, "news" isn't what drives bitcoin prices, and it never has been.

Well if OP believes that price was driven by speculation... Well, what drives speculation? News! The price definitely still reacts to news. But positive news among the lines of "Retailer XYZ accepts BTC" has become almost a common thing now, man. But we'll talk again when Amazon accepts Bitcoin
