Have to see it but personally i would  prefer a positive/impulsive symbol. Double stripes = "pay for"  but with "marking" i want to push/ support someone = lot´s of emotions. In exaggerated words: I would give you a "thumb" in youtube but never a "heart" in soundcloud. 
On the other hand i don´t know which symbol we could use. So yeah - M with stripes is fine
