Let's say I have a couple spare BTC to invest, why should I bet my money on DRK above XMR at this point in time? XMR hasn't failed me so far in my predictions, but when I look at DRK future wise, it seems to blurry to me.
Firstly, I have some XMR.
Secondly, asking like this within the coins own threads invites tribal responses. Our coin is best, their coin is shit. I wouldn't like to invest based on tribal responses.
That said.
* XMR has some growth issues that are being worked on but nothing announced yet. Block chains that are around 10 - 100 GB / year, which means that it potentially limits their growth potential. DRK might have some increased blockcahin sizing in the future, but nothing
as extreme as XMR.
Block chain sizes matter, a lot.
* XMR is based on non-bitcoin code. That is good and bad. If Bitcoin is the default coin that people are investing time and effort in to develop an infrastructure around, why would they switch to a new code base? DRK has similar code base to Bitcoin, its a hard switch, but much easier and cheaper than XMR.
Interoperability with Bitcoin matters, a lot.
* XMR might have some exploits that are being looked at right now. There is an issue on difficulty re-targeting that might make it easy for people to mine a bunch of coins. Darkcoin reinvented difficulty re-targeting some time ago to fix some exploits, and now many other coins are using it.
Exploits matter, a lot.
There is room for plenty of good anon coins. The world transacts $trillions each day. DRK is just ahead of the curve on a number of fronts and is at the point of being able to challenge for the Nr.2 slot.
