Every machine on the inter web has a unique identifier.
Just as you would address a letter to send in the mail, computers use the unique identifier to send data to specific computers on the inter web.
So if I send transactions out and people can see my IP, they know who I am, and can track my spending?
Yes, they can track your spending. They will also add the following to your profile by using that IP:
Browsing history, etc.
Then they can analyze "you" by analyzing your profile and the profiles of all your contacts. Anything you can do to throw a spanner wrench into this process will help you sleep better at night.
