If you are going to use them for gaming, having multiple GPU and just 1GB memory makes no sense.
1gb GDDR5 memory per card should be enough for 1680x1050 resolution gaming.
i get those 6950`s very cheap. that why im not buying 7970... yet
"should be enough" are words that will most certainly come to bite you back in the near future!
1GB cards are struggling atm with a lot of games (e.g., RAGE, BF3, ...). You won't have enough VRAM for high-rez texture packs + high in-game HQ settings.
ok. if i had problems with low vram, i think i chance them to one HD7970 and put those 6950`s to mine somewhere 24/7.. but what happens if i play game which need more vram that my 6950`s can give? just fps drop or what? ill never think about that
