Trustless anon already exists in the cryptonote coins via ring signatures. And it hasn't exactly done them a ton of good so far. Yes, they have their own issues (potential bloat), but this race to trustless anonymity already has been won, sort of... just that people don't really seem to care.
This isn't meant as fud, nor do I even own any cryptonote coins (I owned some Cloak and still own some Drk). I'm just wondering why the hype over something that probably isn't as big a deal as people make it out to be.
People don't care? Then why are the "potential" anon coins are the last couple of months in the top 5 most traded @mintpal?
You misunderstood what I meant, or perhaps I wasn't being clear.
That the race has been won, yet people are still trying to win it. Another form of anonymity using different tech is fine and good, I'm just not sure why there is hype for something that pretty much exists already.
