Slightly more plausible guess would be there's someone trying to sell some off but not affect the price. So rather than dump a huge amount on the exchange at once they're watching the buys and roughly matching them in hopes you'll keep buying them up...?

Let them dump their coins, their loss our gain. More profits to be had when coin gets more interest and demand and services set up coins to new to dump on. Dumpers be dumping.
