KfC told me that they have had 0.3% of cubes returned due to burnt out power sockets; I call that acknowledging there is a problem. Given that most people will have done a work around, soldered wires to board, splitter cables and so on the returns are still around 1/300 units.
Can you imagine if 1 in 300 Ford's was burning up due to a design fault? Or 1 in 300 Dell computers?

That's a bit of a straw-man. Nobody is dying from burnt out power sockets unless their building happens to catch fire: which anybody could and should prepare for.
I'm not aware of Dell's official failure rates but .3% doesn't sound unreasonable.
The biggest issue towards customer satisfaction is undeniably delivery date. Consistently missing shipping projections will hemorrhage returning customers: arguably irrelevant to their business model.
