Great news. This is the kind of stuff we have been hoping for 
Hey guys, just back after having a great chat with the Unocoin Founder. It was quite a long chat so i will try to put down as much as i can recollect.
The 2 main things we discussed was media publicity and development of some mainstream features for SaffronCoin.
- Their PR manager from the previous meeting is already creating a great blog post for us. For newspaper articles, the Unocoin Founder told that it is first best to develop a mainstream feature where people can actually use Saffroncoins to buy something that could be of use to them. Having a newspaper article just describing Saffroncoin as a digital currency and an alternative form of payment would just not bring the attention we require from local people because many over here don't know what cryptos are and they might just glance over the article. I agree with this. Having a newspaper article about not just describing Saffroncoin but also explaining how it can be used to buy some products on a store or a coffee shop would certainly bring in more readers.
So we drafted out some great implementations to begin with.
- Our first implementation would be of having a mini website that would enable prepaid mobile recharges. These recharges can be done by using Saffroncoins. We will be using existing APIs from paytm.com and justrechargeit.com for near-realtime recharges. Many would rather be using a postpaid network connection but i guess this would be really useful for those with prepaid connections. At first we would only provide this service only for Indian Mobile Numbers. Then later I will ask a few on IRC if they can expand this service to their respective countries. I guess this could be huge. Don't suppose even Bitcoin is used for prepaid recharges.
We will have this service on a website as well as integrate it in our wallet for easy access. Unocoin said that they would provide a link to this service from their website. They would even mention about this feature. I guess that could be great publicity.
- Unocoin would also be setting up an e-commerce website where Bitcoins and Saffroncoins will be accepted. India has no online store that accepts cryptos as a form of payment. So we are pioneering this trend in this part of the world.
The mobile recharge implementation would happen really quick in just a few days. We will have a wallet release for that. After that we will have newspaper articles and press releases pushed out.
- This is really interesting and the best part of our discussion.
As you may know, Unocoin was funded by Barry Silbert for $250k. These guys are leading Bitcoin awareness in India. Their founder said that he will soon be implementing Point of Sale (POS) devices for Bitcoins. Such devices are not used for cryptos anywhere in India yet. He said that he can have the devices be programmed to accept Bitcoin as well as Saffroncoin when the time is right. He is a core follower of what we are doing and he feels we can 1 day become an official digital currency to be used all across the country.
Having POS devices is a big thing for an altcoin. I guess we are doing stuff that no altcoin could ever do. We are implementing some excellent technical developments as well as mainstream implementations. A crypto-currency just can't go better than this.
He also said that we need to grow a bit more and become more stable for them to consider adding us to their exchange.
- I have once mentioned on IRC that I would be travelling with the Unocoin team to Shanghai in Sept to attend a Bitcoin Expo. I can't confirm it as of yet but most probably we are set for it. The expo starts on Sept 17. The Expo organisers have already contacted Unocoin to attend and become speakers. If we are set to go, i will be giving a short talk on SaffronCoin too about mainstream implementations.
All this is great PR for SFR to grow and get the recognition it truly deserves.
After that, my plans are for Muscat and Dubai where there would be further expos being held.
I can say that there are some exciting times for SFR ahead. For short-term traders who are looking for a quick flip, i would suggest you look for some other coin and save time because saffroncoin is not a P&D. But for long term traders/investors, i believe that you will 1 day consider SFR to be your best investment ever. Our community also supports steady growth rather than pumps and dumps. We have a vision and we know where we want to be after some time. 4 months down the line, we believe that we are on the right path.
