Little is actually known about the defendant, except that he had previously lived in Deal in Kent. The case was originally reported to police by the Lloyds Banking Group and The Sun newspapers, both of whom claimed that they were being blackmailed by someone who had obtained the bank account details of approximately 28,000 of their customers.
