So you are saying that getting an education and designing automation won't even be a job? What will we do? Sit and play x-box? I think automation frees up labor to do other things. I can't see the future but progress is either good or you can go find a cave.

Frees up labor to do what?
I wish for a world with place for everybody, not just the "automation engineers", and I believe it will be so. Automation requires too much of energy and resources, eventually this will be a problem in a short future.
And not everyone is up to a fully automated World, where you get your McDonald's burger shove into your mouth by a wall mounted mechanical fork. Many still want it to experience a nice meal cooked in a charcoal oven with plain fork, knife and plate...

And then comes the worse nightmare for mankind: The burden of being totally useless. As that's how we feel if one day AI takes over everything, we would be then just a useless pile of bones wondering around.
