I do NOT share your conclusion that the various functions of government may NOT serve a function, even though you may perceive little value in such or you may perceive that it is NOT for you. However, there may be a lot of ways in which various government programs and/or services have allowed for the infrastructure in which you were able to enjoy your lifestyle and you were NOT murdered by the time you were in your 20s... and you were able to live into your mid 60s with a life that you perceive to have been (to date) sufficiently fulfilling. congratulation!!!
Don't get me wrong. I fully appreciate government services, especially essential ones like highways, public healthcare, sewage treatment and other primary infrastructure.
I just think that taxing the income of individuals is profoundly wrong. Luxury taxes on things like alcohol, gasoline and gambling are perfectly acceptable. Inheritance taxes are OK too.
Only corporations should pay income taxes.

Edit: It's been fun chatting but the Jays just blew the game in extra innings, I'm driven to drink and it's time for a few frosties and some live music on the local patio before the sun gets too low. Ciao.
