Pool payout help and information: https://kano.is/index.php?k=payout

The most recent page of posts is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.1000000

From Nov-2019, the next 19 blocks we find on the pool,
the block finder will get a bonus 0.1 BTC

(from me not from the block)

Of course, it must be a valid block (not stale or an orphan) and the bonus is limited until the halving next year, if we don't find 19 blocks before then, the bonus will end then.

***************************************************************************

Note for all access to the kano.is pool you can also use the name kano.space everywhere
For email, web, https web, mining, anywhere you see kano.is you can also use kano.space
This means there's effectively a domain name backup of kano.space in case anything ever went wrong with the kano.is domain name

***************************************************************************

Pool software supported by myself (Kano)

PPLNS Stratum BTC mining pool - N currently set as 3 Days.
0.9% fee paid to myself to run and work on development of the pool.
Miner payout includes transaction fees.

Web interface with management, reports, graphs, and most accurate and detailed pool stats available on any pool Smiley

Mining configuration:
Go to https://kano.is and register a username to mine with, by clicking on the Register/Reset link at the top right.
No password is required in your miner, so just use X for your password in your miner, since most miners need you to enter a password.

e.g.
On your miner setup page, use something like this:
Code:
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
+ Pool1:             | stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333  |
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
+ Worker:            | Kano.worker                         |
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
+ Password:          | x                                   +
+--------------------+-------------------------------------+
Of course replace 'Kano.worker' with your pool username.worker Smiley

If you have network issues using port 3333, you can also try any of:
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:80
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:81
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:443
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:8080

The stratum server is in West-USA
There are other nodes located around the world that you may be closer to:
stratum+tcp://or.kano.is:3333 (Oregon)
stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 (NewYork)
stratum+tcp://nl.kano.is:3333 (Netherlands)
stratum+tcp://jp.kano.is:3333 (Japan)
stratum+tcp://sg.kano.is:3333 (Singapore)

As with the main stratum node, each of those nodes allows mining to port 3333, 80, 81, 443 and 8080

If you have more than a petahash of mining hardware (not rental) I can setup a node near you, only for large miners, if servers are available, at no cost to you Smiley

Your worker name can be whatever you choose and will be created when your miner connects to the pool.
Registered username, followed by a dot '.' or an underscore '_', followed by a worker name.

Pool settings
The pool is configured to start you mining at 4098 difficulty.
The pool adjusts the per instance difficulty to maintain an average share rate of approximately 3 shares per 10 seconds (18 shares per minute)
However, there is a lower limit set on the difficulty of 442.
You can login to the web interface and set a minimum difficulty for mining.
If this value is below the pool calculated value, you'll get the pool calculated value.
You can also use the cgminer option --suggest-diff to set it for each cgminer.

Coins
The pool itself has no wallet, only bitcoind's running without a wallet.
The Coins go to a separate, unattached wallet that the payouts come from.

Transactions
The pool will mine any and all transactions that the standard bitcoind core will accept.
The relevant setting I currently use in bitcoin.conf is:
blockmaxweight=3968888 (changed to this on 12-Nov-2017)
I run a modified bitcoind that optimises the processes of verifying blocks and generating work.
These optimisations are code based, not transaction based.
I do not blacklist addresses, I do not prioritise transactions for any companies ... though I do prioritise our own transactions of course Smiley
If this should ever change, I will post the details when I do the change with the reasons why.

There's a Discord channel to get quick block notifications and support.
See https://kano.is/ for the Discord invite.

There's Apps to get pool info and monitor your miners.

Apple App:

So ... in an attempt to get some large miners on board Smiley
I'll post  this here now and then work out how to get the attention of said larger miners ...

10 BTC giveaway to LARGE miners

Any new miner, who joined this year, with NON-RENTAL hash rate - i.e. their own miners, who shows on the rewards page a "Your N Avg" of exactly 9.5PH/s or more -
yes a large miner - for any block that they find, will get a bonus 1 BTC block finder reward.

... and to get the attention of anyone half that size ...

Any new miner, who joined this year, with NON-RENTAL hash rate - i.e. their own miners, who shows on the rewards page a "Your N Avg" of exactly 5.0PH/s or more but less than 9.5PH/s -
yes a large miner - for any block that they find, will get a bonus 0.5 BTC block finder reward.

... and to get the attention of anyone 2PH or more ...

Any new miner, who joined this year, with NON-RENTAL hash rate - i.e. their own miners, who shows on the rewards page a "Your N Avg" of exactly 2.0PH/s or more but less than 5PH/s -
yes a large miner - for any block that they find, will get a bonus 0.2 BTC block finder reward.

Total rewards for a single miner are a maximum of 3 block finder rewards per miner.

Total BTC I'll be giving out will be 10 BTC i.e. a total of ten 1 BTC block finder rewards or twenty 0.5 BTC block finder rewards or fifty 0.2 BTC block finder rewards or a combination of them all up to a total of 10 BTC limit i.e. the last reward given out cannot be more that whatever is left of the 10 BTC so far unclaimed.

The bonus 0.2, 0.5 or 1 BTC block finder reward will not be taken from the block reward to miners - i.e. no miners will be getting paid less due to the block finder reward.

So how can a large miner get this 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2 or up to 3 BTC bonus reward?
You have to ramp up to over 2PH then find a block.
If you ramp up to over 9.5PHs then you'll get the highest 1 BTC reward.
Of course if you are ramping up to 9.5PH, you can still get the lower 0.2 or 0.5 rewards if you've already ramped up to 2PH or 5PH but not ramped all the way up to 9.5PH, when you find a block.

Are there any quick ways to ramp up to 2PHs, 5PHs or 9.5PHs?
Yep - if you have 4PHs then you'll ramp up to 2PHs in less than 2.5Nd i.e. twice as fast.
Of course if you have more than that, the ramp to 2PHs will be faster again.
If you have 10PHs then you'll ramp up to 5PHs in less than 2.5Nd i.e. twice as fast.
And again if you have more than that, the ramp to 5PHs will be faster again.
Same again if you have 20PHs then you'll ramp up to 9.5PHs in less than 2.5Nd i.e. twice as fast.
And again if you have more than that, the ramp to 9.5PHs will be faster again.

Does this affect the ramp time?
Yes, adding more hash rate to the pool reduces the time of the 5Nd ramp.
e.g. at the moment assuming we were 200PH/s then adding another 20PH/s to the pool would reduce the ramp time by 10%

Where can I find the current ramp time?
https://kano.is/index.php?k=payout

If you know anyone on any bitmain pools or slush (which is probably now a bitmain pool also) with over 2PH then tell them about it Smiley

... and cryptostarusa can't get it Smiley

The March competition has modified rules to choose the winner (and a runner up)
Read here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg14042677#msg14042677
See the next post below for the block details for March

Only one Avalon A6 per winner.

Each month starts on the 1st day of the month at UTC 00:00 timezone.
The first month, January, starts on the 18th at UTC 00:00

If for any month, the miner isn't won, it will continue into the following months until someone wins it.
Each month adds a new miner to be won, so during some months there could be more than 1 winner if there was no winner the previous month.

Avalon will be supplying and shipping a miner to each winner.
It will be an Avalon6 x1, 4-pin-cable x2, AUC x2, without PSU - as shown in the pictures below (but silver - not black)
The Avalon A6 does 3.5THs +/- 5% at approx 1100W at the wall.

Avalon is great with cgminer!
The master cgminer git is kept up-to-date by Avalon submitting their changes, and they incorporate all the master cgminer changes!

Details about the Avalon A6 can be found on the bitcoin wiki: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6

Your 'Workers'->'Shift Graph' must show an average of 300GHs or more - and less than 250THs - on the red average line - for the sum of all your miners.
So if you want to be a winner you better make sure you are already mining 300GHs or more on your account now.
Note, of course, I can see anyone's 'Shift Graph' including address miners.

Now, just in case we do find any orphans, the orphans will also count as winners as long as the share isn't submitted too late.
The late timelimit is of course any time before, but also up to exactly 2 seconds after the pool sees a block change, according to the pool logs.
No adjustments or arguments about the exact 2 second limit.
No miners should be submitting blocks that late, so it's not a special requirement.

You will have to supply an address that Avalon can ship it to via EMS or DHL.
It doesn't have to be your own address, but it has to be possible for them to ship to your chosen address.
If you cannot supply an address EMS or DHL will ship to, then the prize will be awarded to the next winning block finder.

If you mine to an address, you'll need to sign a message with the winning address, to identify who is the contact to claim the prize.

If you don't want to supply contact details to ship it to, then the prize will be awarded to the next winning block finder.

I can't win Cheesy

One last important thing - my decision on the winners are final.
If there is any confusion or misunderstanding about how the winner is chosen, I retain the right to choose who the winner is in the event of any disagreement.

This time, Avalon supplied a miner to each of 2 winners.
It was an Avalon 4.1 Machine with a 4-pin-cable x1 and an AUX x1 (without a PSU) as shown in the pictures below.
The Avalon 4.1 does 1THs at approx 600W and can be overclocked to 1.3THs at approx 1000W and underclocked to 820GHs at approx 400W
