I am thinking about creating a mascot for darkcoin... sort of an animal like creature.
What are animals who are commonly associated with darkness or hiding, etc?

Cat! A black cat would be both cute and awesome.
Specifically a black panther cat (and I note someone above already mentioned panther) would give Darkcoin a brilliant mascot. They're very dark, sophisticated in their ability to be stealthy and very hard to locate or see. And when they run they're very fast. They represent many qualities and attributes we're wanting to communicate about Darkcoin.
