Actually i'm driving a polski fiat, year 1990, is very small and my first car It costed me just 250 bucks, but is in a good shape. 
My first car was an orange vauxhall corsa that I paid £30 for and spent my 6 weeks summer holiday fixing the head gasket and repainting it. Fun times
