Bitmain wouldn't sell the S4 at $1450 if BTC value was much higher. It'd still be much higher than it's competitors are charging, and history proves this.
.
For comparison only 1 competitor:
SpondooliesTech SP20 price and shipping cost. $1,190.00+$160 (EU) +$119 (US) second half of October and no PSU only 1,7TH/s
Which one is cheaper?
You're looking at the wrong competitor. Spondoolies has been overpriced from the jump.
Here's the right one:

Neither will ROI, and spondoolies are loud as 100 lawn mowers so most people cant use it.
SP3x series are loud. They are designed for deployment in hosted facilities where the noise isn't a problem.
SP20 is specifically designed for home use, and Spondoolies-Tech tell us that they will be much quieter.
On a different note, it is strange that the banner ad says the S4 will be a 3U unit. I would have thought they would have stayed with the 4U chassis of the S2 to save design and manufacturing costs. Basically make the S4 identical to the S2 except with 28nm cards in the slots.
