So if use this "escrow service" I won't risk losing my newly bought btc?
Was wondering the same thing sir
Well that's the idea, but only if you use someone who is a well-trusted and familiar face of the community, otherwise you could just as easily get scammed by the 'escrow'. It's never 100% safe but it's safer that sending your money to a complete newb.
Ah yes. squall1066's list.
Like I said, that one doesn't seem to get updated as often. As you've pointed out, someone from that list has been accused of failing to repay a loan since the last time the list was updated.
The fact that someone is on either of the lists isn't a guarantee that they can be trusted. It's up to you to do your own due diligence to decide for yourself which escrow providers you are willing to trust.
I've made that exact point myself recently (see below). The trouble is many people use or direct people to that stickied list as definitive guide. Many newbs just take it as a given that everyone is legit and can be trusted when obviously that isn't the case.
Which escrow was that? You don't seem to have left any negative feedback.
Last that I'll mention about this since I don't want to derail this thread, but here is the escrow list, and here is his profile. This does prove my point that anyone can claim themselves to be an escrow, but this says nothing to their actual trustworthiness.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=124662PS - my feedback won't put anyone in the red, hence I don't bother until the trust system is fixed. He's already put in red by someone else though.
Looks like that escrow list has become useless. Why the hell was he put (and still is) on there when he's done zero escrows here and all his other feedbacks are for loans? But that's also why you should do your own research on these people and make your own mind up. I wouldn't trust any 'escrow' without evidence of many previous trades and have previously held on to more money than I was trusting them with.
And whilst your feedback may not 'put someone in the red' it's still valuable and you're likely to get put on the trusted list the more valid and warranted feedback you leave.
