I think there is a role for our military might, I do not think it would be to our long term geo political strategic advantage to completely remove ourselves from the area, but but we need to foster a more advantageous political solution or the military strikes will be indefinite (see both links above). AND I think we need to work faster and harder for real oil independence and to protect the homeland for real.
