You must be young if you haven't figured this one out yet.   Naive guys fall for this all the time. You don't go around begging for gifts... you don't have to! All you have to do is lead a guy on with some pretty pics and make it sound like you're interested in him.  It helps if you act extra girly too.  These type of guys think that they need to shower girls with gifts in order to keep their interest.  It's so very painful to watch, because no matter how much sense you try to talk in to the guy, he's so enamoured that he won't listen to reason.  Lots of men that want to scam know this and so they will pretend to be a pretty girl to scam. 

I used to play an MMO called FFXI and this sort of stuff was rampant.  You wouldn't believe the stuff people would do.  I knew several males that would play female characters in order to scam.  When it got too weird for one guy, he faked his own death to avoid the player he was scamming.  Of course he was back a week later, claiming to be the girl's parents "to keep her memory alive" lol sounds legit, right?  Then there were the real women who would flirt for help/free stuff.  Not really sure if you can call that scamming though as I do believe the guys would get something out of it(at least I hope they were smart enough to get pics lol).

So yeah, the norm would be (much like this forum) you were considered male until proven otherwise.  I understand where the sentiment comes from, but I don't believe that's any excuse to be rude and treat you like a scammer. Especially in the newbie section where you're not conducting any business, but just asking a legitimate question.  Like others have said, I think there are quite a few women on here, but they prefer to keep their sex private because of unwanted attention or as you can see, being labeled as a scammer.

To answer your question though, I'm female myself (just not a pretty one XD) and am happy to see more on here.
