doesn't matter how high is the physical limit, with exponential growth (any x% per year) rule it is going to be reached and exceeded, whereupon keeping the rule is just as well as making the max size infinite.


why not linear growth, like  +n MB per block halving, or quadratic like +n MB per n'th block halving?
