I don't know how you managed to keep the alpha wallet as usually that should cause some trouble (like the client dying) but it doesn't matter for redemption if that's what your asking.
You're not supposed to use an address that the client creates for a new wallet / account. You're supposed to create a "real account" with the generator as shown in the screenshots.
