Can the Blocknet be used to build a fully automated
exchange? It seems exchanges cannot be trusted and if an automated
one without human involvement could be built I think it would be a good thing.

Yes - by nature and by design, Blocknet will be a de-centralized exchange. All coins participating will likely become part of the first crypto coin decentralized exchange by default.

WOW, this is really something. Being relatively new to the crypto scene a concern of mine is the cowboy exchanges.
This would be a massive game changer in the scene.
