I see these kinds of trolls more like uncles that show up to family parties drunk with a prostitute under their arm. If you don't think about them too seriously, they're quite endearing and colorful.
I agree with you. Although to make the analogy more accurate - it's a lot more like an uncle that's destitute, unemployed, and covered with filth spending the entire party handing out unsolicited investment, career and hygiene advice.
Colorful? Yes... Endearing? Not so much.
