Well you could say that about most ranks, but it looks like he just got told you can get more money for an account with an avatar and obviously the greed flowed though him.

I don't get why is that. In a couple of months there will be the new forum and everybody can get an avatar.

Well, not everyone knows that, plus the account can still be used in the meantime for whatever reasons. Accounts with an avatar have always gone for a little bit extra as well but their value is decreasing for several reasons.
