i can´t open the NEM Client NIS don´t start! every time some errors and yes i have java 8 ... in 3 days i´m 2 weeks in holiday than i try it again... i hate it the same problems with the Nxt Client in the early stage dezember 2013 and now NEM 
Try to make manual start with windows bottom right corner, where is normally wifi, battery etc. info
Right click with mouse buttons "start" NCC or NIS.
