It shows how far we have sunk. Now people just react based on politics without a clue as to what they are talking about. "oh, he's for it? Them I'm against it!". 
I don't think very many people really understand what net neutrality means nor the potential consequences of imposing net neutrality rules on ISPs. IMO this is one example as to when it is good to have lobbyists that can educate the public as to what the effect of net neutrality are from both points of view
