I think that I would like to set one of my S3 to solo mine just because.
What is the code or changes to the user interface is needed? When I try to enter my node IP and port, username, and password, all I get is 'dead'. I think that I need to add the "--btc-address [address]" option but can't via the normal S3 interface.
I'm running a full node with:
server=1
listen=1
rpcport=8332
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=192.168.1.200
you could always save yourself the bother and use
http://solo.ckpool.org?Wow. Thanks. I never knew that this existed. Paying 0.5% is a tiny and very fair fee.
For everyone else, here is the thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.msg8604106#msg8604106no worries, i have a couple of rigs in a unit with free electric so i figured, what the heck, why not

the problem is it could take 1000 years before you find a block.. and in that time you are losing money because 2 s3s still make 4.50$ per day in BTC.
+1
Pool mining is just better due to faster payments (even if it is shared), also I can see my stats to be sure its working ok.
I full realize that I have very low chance of finding a block. I have a S3 going solo. The chances are 304,002,695 GH/s / 475 GH/s = ~640,000 of finding a block. Or about 1 in 315 per current difficulty.
Since I paid ~0.5 btc for the miner the USD cost is very low. That is actually just a night out at the casino
