Seems the viacoin network got a Xmas present: The network successfully transitioned to merged mining a little earlier than intended at block 551885 so pools may begin merged mining right now. It also means that any 0.10.5 nodes will have been forced off the main chain at block 551885. Make sure you upgrade.
I can confirm everyone important on the network has already upgraded to 0.10.6.x like Bittrex, Bter, most pools, etc. etc.

I agree that a press-release saying that we have successfully merged-mined de-facto, and what it means is the right move.
