Re: what will happen if BTC hit 1.000.000$

If bitcoins hit $1.000.000 within the next few years, the buying power of the dollar would most likely have collapsed due to dept and inflations. I think that before we start talking about a 1m dollar bitcoins we should focus on the 100k price.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. $20K would be nice again in the next few years. $100K is a long shot (but also nice). $1M - Good luck! with that!!!!!!

Re: My list of Bitcoin forks

Thanks for this list. I appreciate you sharing your hard work.

I've been using btcdiv.com/# for a list. It has exchange prices listed for the forked coins that are on exchanges.

Here's my 2 cents for anyone looking for an easy button to store offline (some of) these forked coins.
Coinomi and Bither wallets can be loaded on an old or cheap Android phone.
Download the .apk and install using a USB cable and the android SDK on your (factory reset) phone that you will never connect to the internet.

Coinomi has file hashes posted for verification of download, Bither, not so much, but I sent them an email to see of it was a possibility to post file hashes with the download.
Bither has a cool QR code interface between the online and offline wallets.

***EDIT*** Bither won't let you STORE the forked coins, but send them to a Bitpie wallet that can generate the forked coin addresses. Bitpie, does not have an offline option (sigh).

If you want to sweep private keys for forked coins using the online version of these, it's an option, but you technically compromise the whole BTC wallet they came from.
So, OBVIOUSLY you'll want to use best practices for moving the BTC first and handling your private keys.

Anyone else have easy button options for offline storage or claiming forked coins?

Hey,
I'd like to be as careful as possible setting up a cold wallet. I've found your download on bither.net to grab the .apk.
I will install it on my offline device via usb cable.

First, I would like to verify the download but can't seem to find your file hashes posted for verification.

Please let me know how I can verify the download so I can be sure I'm installing the right one.

Checking on an Old Offline Armory Wallet
by

I've got an old cold storage wallet that I used for a while a few years back. It still has some funds in it that I'd like to check up on for peace of mind.
The wallet was created with Armory 0.90 (maybe a bit earlier, but close to that). My paper backup shows a Wallet Version of 1.35

I have the watching only wallet file, but haven't had a copy of Armory running in a long time.

2 Questions:

- Is there any easy button to import the Watching Only wallet to check on the funds?
- What wallet would you guys recommend (that I can import the offline wallet file) when I'm ready to get the coins out of cold storage?

TIA

Thanks for the BIP38 integration. It feels a lot more secure having a password to get to the wallet, though I realize passwords can be forgotten.

? - Is there a walk through available on importing it into the wallet? (E.g. - How do we "cash in" (import) using the BitcoinQT client? I imagine we need the private key format to do the import.) I will play with a fraction of a BTC of course before utilizing the new wallets.

Any recommended BIP38 links would be appreciated.

Thanks,
IAS

After searching for this answer for a while, I found that I was able to get the funds from my BIP0038 encrypted paper wallet imported to my Blockchain.info wallet.
Under the Import/Export section, you'll find a place to "Import Private Key".
Once you input the encrypted private key, it askes for the passphrase you used to encrypt it with.

Super easy !

Side notes:
- Don't be tempted to use the "Import Paper Wallet" with the webcam option at the bottom of that page. You'll get an "Unsupported key format" error message.
- You can use webqr.com if you're lazy like me and don't want to type out the entire addrress.

As for fees, PPLNS 1% and PPS 3% when you're out of beta? And for Sass, PPLNS 0.5% and PPS 2.5%?

Don't know to be honest. I want to find a balance that pays the bills and some salaries without overburdening loyal pool members.

Right now, anyone paying fees at a pool is paying pay-as-you-go premiums. I want to reward loyalty, so any suggestions or discussion is helpful at this point.

Fees start at X and go down 10% per month for 5 months, as long as you keep your hashrate up.
When you leave, it starts over.
Thoughts?

So how do we sign up to get a "ka-ching" on our phones when the pool finds a block?
Basic steps:
- Set up a Gmail filter to add a label to a pool block notification email
- Set your Android phone to make that special sound when that label comes in (not sure if iPhones can do this or not)

If you need more detail on this see here . . . . I didn't want to fill this thread with slightly off topic details.

P.S. you can also use this to set up a RED ALERT!!!! sound when you get an idle miner notification.

Wow.

Does that mean you are switching to full time work on the project (or were you already)?

Yep, Alan will now be full time on Armory.  And so will at least two other folks as well.

Btw, I'm Kevin Bombino, one of the investors in the deal.  I just wanted to add my congratulations to Alan.  I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to support the project.
Thank you Kevin, and of course, Thanks, as always to Alan

Anyone else having problems downloading the client? This link gives me a 403 error: https://bitcoinarmory.googlecode.com/files/armory_0.88.1-beta_win64.msi

Is there a mirror anywhere?
All of the download links seem to be down, not sure about any mirror.
I checked all of the links on the "Get Armory" page.

Here's the GitHub if it helps.
