Currently we are experiencing a vigorous mexican wave retrenchment, with a moderate likelihood of bearish panhandles. However I would hesitate to rule out the possibility of a short bullish halibut, given current ocelots.

If someone bought some BTC at $140-150 they are not 'weak' for selling when it's obviously crashing out from underneath them even if they sell at a loss.

Only a stubborn fool would hold onto a bad investment when it's obviously crashing / collpasing in value and you can buy more back cheaper if you sell and potentially make much greater profits in the long run. Knowing when to sell at a loss is very important thing to know. The key is to decide whether it's just a large fluctuation or a much rarer collapse.

For example : If you purchased 100 BTC at $150 and sell them at $115 you initially spent $15,000 and end up with $11,500, a loss on that trade of $3,500.

If the price goes down to $80 you will end up with 143.75 Bitcoin (instead of only 100) assuming you buy back in at $80.

Then you only have to sell at $104 to break even and you have more Bitcoin so as the price rises in the future you will make much more profit than had you been 'strong' and held onto your initial Bitcoin like some kind of idiot while the value crashed through the floor. By the time the price rises back to your initial purchase price you will have much more profit by doing this.

Except, you never know when the price will change direction, and how far it will go. What if, in your example, you purchased 100 BTC at $150 and sell them at $115, and then the price rises back to $200? Now you have no btc and $3500 less than you started with.

Presumably one would buy somewhere along the way....

Re: Tertiary/Higher Education

A private education which must contort to the state's definition of what an education is, is not a private education.  Granted, colleges generally give a much better experience over high school, but, I'm still stuck on rails for 2 years before I can have an art teacher tell me to go paint so I can learn how to paint exactly as well as I have been without an art teacher Undecided

Give me a completely private college whose intention is not to "prepare you for the work force" (god fucking damn it), but to provide a haven for people to go to learn and become educated for the sake of education, so they may better their lives and be happier as individuals (in other words, the whole point of philosophy), and I'll be the happiest man alive.

Quote from: Wikipedia on the Apocalypse
An apocalypse, translated literally from Greek, is a disclosure of knowledge, hidden from humanity in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e., a lifting of the veil or revelation,

Psssst.  The super-duper-secret information resulting in this apocalypse, which will finally end the biblical time period we've been suffering through, is that a philosophical approach to life will make you happy, and thus make others happy.  Now all we gotta do is disclose this information to the rest of the world and we'll all be dandy.

Thanks for this

If you haven't watched it already, you should watch the documentary "Happy" from 2011

Thanks for the link, will pass it on.

My take on the populist narrative - since 2008/9 there's existed a populist "anti banker" narrative. It's an oversimplification and not at all helpful. "Bankers" aren't the problem any more than blaming individuals is the solution. These problems are systemic. They reveal the shortcomings of our regulatory systems, but more than that they are symptomatic of a darkness in the hearts of men. A lust for power over others and a lack of compassion. It's a spiritual battle as old as mankind, and the stakes are high.

Congrats, where abouts in Aussie are you? Housing here is soooo expensive!

Out of curiosity, how do you get your money back to AUD as there aren't many AUD brokers here anymore, they all keep getting shut down?

Perth WA, the most isolated shithole capital city in the world Tongue

For amounts under $1000 I always had plenty of friends willing to buy MTGOX/ BTCE codes off me Smiley
For the larger amounts I will be trying both okpay and direct deposit to my AUD bank account which mtgox supports.
To be safe Im doing a 30 (USD)/70 (AUD) split so I have plenty of options available.

Hang on. Interest rates are very low right now. Paying off your mortgage is probably not the best plan with interest rates so low. If bitcoins are your only investment, then perhaps you could sell some to make some less risky investments, instead. It is true that paying off your mortgage early lowers risk, but it is an extreme step when your interest rate is so low.

Im with Keystart if you are familiar with them, the cunts are currently charging higher than what the federal reserve bank advises - basically keystart is turning from a good govt initiative to a money grabbing institution. So I'll be happy to leave them anyway.

That being said, I welcome advice for other investment opportunities, I wouldn't mind owning some silver and gold but I need to research more first.

With large sums of money (around or above $100k) and not much experience, you would most likely be better off finding a legitimate irl broker or financial management service. The fees are usually reasonable (actually quite cheap imo for expert financial management that you can be involved in as little or as much as you want). They can build a risk managed and diverse portfolio covering all sorts of markets that can give you an income as well as growing value. You will probably never see the kind of returns (or level of risk) than we see with bitcoin though.

The time to invest in silver was 20 years ago, imo.

Congrats btw  Smiley

Changing peoples minds is much more than telling them your way is better. We just demonstrated this. "stop telling people what to do"..."now do what I said"........

The ironic thing is both of you want to improve our society and the lives of people in it. If you're not enjoying this pride game than stop wasting your time on it.

1) I'm not sharing "My way" or telling people what to do, if you had read you would have realized that. I am making suggestions for a better world, and telling people my plans (Not "My way" just what I will be doing soon, anyone can do it). Try reading again with that mindset and maybe you can be less confused when you next reply.

2) I am not arguing with anyone, so I don't see the "pride game" you are talking about. I am simply sharing with the world my plans, and how they can benefit from each other.

I think you are the one that needs to drop your pride, then try re-reading the thread.

Good, we are both enjoying ourselves in that case  Cheesy

Share you wealth.

GIVE YOUR NEXT MINING RIG TO A FRIEND AS A GIFT. Not me, a friend. Or even a family member.

Stop telling people what to do and start doing it yourself

LOL

I am starting doing it myself, I don't even mine yet, and I will be getting someone else a rig as I buy myself my own first rig.

So now that I did what you said, you do what I sad and GIFT YOUR NEXT RIG.

You didn't do what I said, because you didn't stop telling me what to do.

Changing peoples minds is much more than telling them your way is better. We just demonstrated this. "stop telling people what to do"..."now do what I said"........

The snake sheds its skin when the snake sheds its skin.

But since you are telling me something, I will tell you something-

You're arguing with someone with the most opposite vision for society as yourself. Neither of you will ever change each others minds. The ironic thing is both of you want to improve our society and the lives of people in it. If you're not enjoying this pride game than stop wasting your time on it.
