I don't ever want to get on rickyjames' bad side Shocked
If you think that's bad you should hear some of the conversation I have recorded between me and some of my former clients...

Long story short I quit after two weeks working as an (crypto-currency) investment banker for the serbian mafia... Not because I was on their bad side, but I heard about the things they did to those that stole from them.

I may have to push the 72 hours out to around 4-5 days, I need to code much more than I initially planned.

Guys, as much as hiring a hitman would be badass, we can't go around killing off people, even for thefts  Roll Eyes. The bad publicity could harm NXT way more than you guys lost.

I'm writing a mac messaging client in objective c as we speak, should have a working prototype in under 72 hours or so.

Is anyone going to use Arbitrary Messages within next 2 weeks? It seems to me that without a client that supports this feature we don't need AM.

I can develop a simple messaging client with PGP encryption. I was thinking about this last night and there may be a way to make account numbers work as asymmetric public keys, I need to research it more though.

How does one send a message? I need details to develop a client.

Wait until you win big and the issuer defaults Smiley

Damn, good point... We need to have IDRs and such for investment related activity. I think I might start a cryptographic investment bank when the asset exchange goes online.

Seriously, how do you think the one party who is allowed to be the BTC/NXT gateway will price his/her services?  With no competition the NXT exchange, as a whole, could very likely suffer from monopolies on assets like BTC, USD and gold.

One party will pay 1000 NXT to issue an Asset within the NXT Asset Exchange, which will be a BTC/NXT gateway.

Another party can also pay 1000 NXT to issue a DIFFERENT Asset within the NXT Asset Exchange, which can also be a BTC/NXT gateway.

Either you and the others raising these concerns have a misconception of what an Asset is OR I need to do a lot of homework!   Smiley

Fair enough. Thanks.

smaragda is correct. Anyone can be BTC/NXT gateway if he wants. Actually I would rather have mBTC/NXT gateway. Just one more thing, it would be extremely difficult to get a market going. Ripple has been here for years with huge backing and it is going no where. Regardless how many BTC/NXT gateways are there in NXT asset, I for one would be extremely difficult to be persuaded to buy one BTC from you. If want BTC I would rather go for the real thing at coinbase or BTC-China or bitstamp.

I would definitely buy virtual high performance CDs though  Wink.

Could someone with an updated blockchain check on my account for me?

I'm in a developing country at the moment  Undecided...

It would be very much appreciated as the explorer is still down.

or

Thanks CFB and Optical, I almost had a heart attack when I heard about the hack.

Wouldn't it be pretty easy to restrict transactions to a specific MAC address? You register a MAC address for your account via a transaction. Only if the MAC address of you computer is the specified one, the transaction is executed. Just an idea.

Even if it were possible I'm afraid that would cause more problems than it would solve  Tongue...

SIMPLE IDEA:

1) Implement voting as we DO NEED A FUNCTIONAL ASSET EXCHANGE ASAP!

2) For Freezing accounts we need MINIMUM THRESHOLD OF 75% VOTES -- 750  Million Nxt....if we get 749,000,000 ...no freeze.

3) To destroy we need MINIMUM THRESHOLD OF 90% VOTES -- 900 Million Nxt

51% can be use for normal votes...routine business Exchange stuff....but the 2 exceptions above should be set in stone.

i agree this. even more.

We need to differentiate between active accounts/nxt and passive accounts/nxt to correctly implement a voting system.

For example, if there are 4M total accounts holding NXT (Distributed in parabolic decline from 1-4M respectively, with account 1 holding 1 NXT and account 4M holding 2M NXT) if accounts 1-3.99M vote to do X and accounts 3.991-4M to not do X (default vote), X will not get approved.

However, if account 4M has been inactive for 1 year, or a fluid amount of time commensurate with the duration of NXT's lifespan, it should get approved if account 4M has not even had the chance to vote...

Voting is a great idea, as backed by Plato and Socrates, but if a system were to be implemented it needs to be dynamic, not static.

I have created a forum for discussion and collaboration between those that need a place to communicate efficiently. This will be a closed forum and I will approve each member by hand. This is to prevent clutter and streamline the development process.
Please come to nextcoin.org to moderate the appropriate area instead of soliciting our mods to jump ship. Nextcoin.org has been moved to Cloudflare DDOS protection and works like a dream even without moving to the power server - it's a strong community growing massively but could really use strong teamleaders like yourself.

Will do, sorry if I came off that way, I wasn't trying to detract from nextcoin.org.

Administers if they choose to come aboard will be Pinarello, CFB, 2Kewl4School, Opticalc and Nexern.

Haven't they got enough on their plates to be also moderators and post somewhere else?

Of course, I am not opposed to promoting others to the position of moderator. It was just an open invitation.

everything needs t be open and transparent, we dont need conspiracy

At the same time we also need a better place to streamline development and progression. I agree with you, I'll make the forums open to view but registration will still be controlled.

PM me on bitcointalk with your role in the community if you want your account to be activated. I only know about 20 people on here by name.

Attention contributing members of the NXT community

I have created a forum for discussion and collaboration between those that need a place to communicate efficiently. This will be a closed forum and I will approve each member by hand. This is to prevent clutter and streamline the development process.

This thread is too cluttered for me to follow, and nextcoin.org is down and contains trolls and other "noobs," not that new people are bad, I think we just need a clean and simple workspace...

If this site is DDOS'ed I'll move it to a black lotus server with ASIC DDOS protection.

People that are welcome include...
  • Client Developers
    Core Developers
    Project Managers
People actively working on making NXT a successful crypto-currency
Investors (You will be banned if you complain or bitch about how fast people like CFB or BC are working)
    Donors

Here is a link http://buyinglitecoins.com/. (I'm currently using a domain that's already set up, deal with it  Cool.)

Anyone positively contributing to NXT is welcome to join!

Administers if they choose to come aboard will be Pinarello, CFB, 2Kewl4School, Opticalc and Nexern.

Forums are hidden except to registered members, this is to allow discussion of what could be deemed as "sensitive" information such as project Kharon.

Ok I just bought 5 VPS with 2GB ram each, will set them up by the end of the day. Considering building a dedicated server with 128GB ram, If I do it will be up within three weeks.

"I did not have the patience to participate (or at least follow) the NXT development efforts for 24 hours."

Yeah - very funny - I have already invested BTC into this and I think my concern is pretty valid.

You think it is fine that just 1 guy controls NXT?

It was promoted as a "decentralized" crypto-currency - even Bitcoin was *exactly* that in its very first beta version.

I have over 120k invested in this now, just let things ride. CFB is doing a phenomenal job.

Will provide an auth token if you're dubious.

My server isn't cooperating :/, might need to reinstall a clean copy of linux. I'm going to buy a 5gbps ddos protected server from these guys https://www.staminus.net/ddos-protection in a few days.
