Re: Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison

This is an important thing that people don't understand about law. You can bring your civil (7th Amendment requirement for a common law trial) case right inside and on top of any criminal complaint that is brought against you. When you do this, your claim must be heard before the complaint brought against you. Since in a case like this, you have plenty of time to file your notices with the court clerk well in advance of any trial, the trial may essentially be done long before the court date.

So, what would you do in your claim? You would require any person that you have harmed or injured to come forward and state the damages so that you can compensate him for the damages. He must come forward in a court of record (common law court), take the oath, get on the stand and testify, express the harm and/or injury, provide evidence that and a witness that verify it was you that did the harm or injury, and if someone shows up, bring it before a jury.

Now, Ross is way too dumb to know this. Other Americans are as well. But the people are waking up. Google and Youtube "Karl Lentz" and "Bill Thornton" and "Richard Cornforth" to find out what this is all about and how it can be done in every government case against a human being.

Smiley

There was a relative of a drug victim in the court that testified that her son died of drugs bought from SR or something. Doesn't that count?

It might. But the woman would have to file a claim that Ross deprived her of her property, her son. She would need evidence that would undeniably connect Ross's sales to her son. She would need to make her claim from the stand under oath. If she did it the right way, even if her claim wasn't substantiated by her testimony, the testimony of a witness, and other evidence, the jury might believe her, and condemn Ross anyway.

If she brings her case as a complaint, or if she brings it through an attorney or the government rather than attacking Ross directly, an informed Ross will win.

You should test this method you keep trying to promote. Go commit a 'crime' then use this bollocks then report back. You should be invincible, right?

"Money is the product of society, just as Bitcoin is the product of a society of computers. Money needs the greatest human network to succeed, just as the Bitcoin blockchain needs the greatest computer consensus. This network and consensus, however imperfect, is ultimately provided by the state in modern societies, just as it was the case in the many cases of recoinage and remonetization throughout history. For as long as we have states that strong and accepted by people, for better or worse, Bitcoin will remain a substitute currency."

What's wrong with it being a substitute currency? In the past states are the only people that have issued currency because it's in the power-hungry interests to do so, but whether bitcoin will succeed or even overtake a national currency is down to the people who use it. I certainly think it could become some sort of defacto world currency and one that I think we need just as a long as it's not controlled by a state.

Re: What do you like best about bitcoin?

Bitcoin makes it so that just about anyone can start selling online. Previously one would have to use a shopping cart and sign up with a 3rd party payment processor in order to accept payments.

Wouldn't you really need an online shopping cart if you were selling things via bitcoin? People still prefer some sort of shop format to use and there are plenty of options many just occuring fees after you've sold a product but I'm sure there free versions too.

Re: Who is/was the No.1 Scammer on Bitcointalk?
by

Wasn't the biggest scam the hackings of some of the Darknet markets? Didn't the owner of sheep run off with millions and was then caught later on trying to launder funds and arrested?

Woodcollector is the most recent one and got a lot of hate for what he did, his idea was pretty unique too, he made cheap wood carvings and claimed they were hand calved so he could con people out of a lot of money for it.

He didn't scam that much but at least he actually sent the product, he just sold it as something it wasn't (though they still looked great regardless that he didn't actually hand carve them).

As somebody who does actually make Jewellery by hand, I can tell you it's a very common problem and does fall within scamming, even if it isn't a scam, it's still incredibly dishonest, unfortunately a lot of people do it and don't think there's anything wrong with it.

The problem is people like Woodcollector inevitably make it more difficult for genuine crafters to make and sell stuff online because of the trust lost.

It's dishonest and probably fraud if you misrepresent something, but there are worse scams. If somebody at least got something it's better than nothing. From what I remember most of woodcollecters buyers were happy with the products they recieved though that doesn't excuse it. I would have wanted a refund personally if I had of bought one from him.

Re: Daily thread for Stoners: Weed strain of the day

Friendly reminder:  There have been numerous instances where posting pictures of pot have constituted probable cause for arrest.

I agree -- posting pictures (particularly ones that do not look pulled from google search, etc) is a bad idea.... but merely posting about a strain that you like seems quite harmless.

Wut? Do you really think the police are scouring message boards until Little Johnny posts a picture of his shwag weed so they can then try track him down to arrest him? How would they even know who he is or where he lives. They would have to get a subpeona for this forum then a warrant to raid their house..

Once you turn 21 you should probably be at that point where u need a life check if you are still smoking consistently marijuana.

Lets grow up people and be productive members of society. RAISE THE GDP OF YOUR COUNTRY!
Ya, become an alcoholic instead and destroy your liver. Also, hasten the destruction of resources and life on the planet for profit. These are good, socially acceptable goals. Roll Eyes

Growing weed wastes a lot of electricity produced by coal powered power plants. By smoking weed you can destroy planet faster than alcohol

Growing weed is free:

Slovenia 1 - England 4

That score has already been picked. Not gonna bother picking a score now personally as it's too late for any realistic ones but good luck.
