Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON
by

Can someone please explain to me why the confirmation times are so woefully, unacceptably long? And what the fix will be and when it will be implemented? It takes so damn long to get coins from A to B that unless something is done, regardless of how innovative and successful certain features may be, it will be a fundamentally useless coin except for those rare transactions where both parties are happy to wait for hours on end to complete the sale.
i sent coins from poloniex 2 my wallet yesterday, time from there to my wallet was about 2 min and about 6 or 7 min to confirm, i have herd it will be faster in next release though, next release is next week

I also had confirmations within 2min or so. It was actually one of the fastest transactions I've had. Too bad I dumped a bunch and am now buying it back due to increased communication from dev lol. I think that sometimes there are not enough people with the wallet open to confirm transactions so maybe it could have been one of those times when you tried to send it.

Missing the benefits of a moderated thread... this place really gets ugly.

@recent dump

If u look at the top 100 richest adresses of xc distribution, it is still pretty centralized for a coin with that volume. Darkcoin has a higher percentage of top1000 holders which will also happen to xc. And that s a good thing although those dumps hurt. There will be many more weak hand shakin out their xc until this gem finally gets stable. If you have strong nerves on this bumpy track and hold, u might be rewarded in a way u don t dare to dream of now. To my mind it s a bet with a minor risk but a chance for a life changing reward.

Really looking forward to seeing a roadmap. Next to the peer view of the code, it s the only thing that will do as a shield against all this orchestrated FUD which is damn annoying by the way.

@Teka You re doing a great job as CM. Thank you very much.

The fud is annoying, but it looks like there aren't any legit problems with this coin so far. People are just jumpy because they don't have all the information, but I believe it will come. This is a great opportunity for those who believe that people have a right to privacy of their financial transactions to buy into a coin that helps to empower that future.

Re: A Single Bitcoin will Worth $100K - Do You Believe it?
by

Bitcoin would require a large update/hard fork to ever reach this level. I doubt that will ever happen. It would require this because the transaction speed is not conducive to real world usage. Tell a customer they have to wait 10minutes just to buy a soda at the store. Nobody wants to do that. Bitcoin also doesn't have a method of chargebacks. While some see this as a good thing I see it as a bad thing. Customers need to be protected from the abusive practices of businesses. Currently if my cable company decided to double charge me I could contact my credit card company to get my money back. They will fight abusive business practices for me. While much of this could eventually be added to bitcoin I think it's currently limited by it's size. I believe crypto currencies are the future of money. I just don't believe it will be bitcoin. I believe eventually an extremely innovative altcoin will take the market by storm becoming possibly of greater value than bitcoin.

thanks for your opinion bro. Were you under living under a rock this whole time that SyncCoin got you bothered. What about RIGHtcoin, libertycoin, husky, dream and COUNTEless other fucking coins that came out. Does any coin have anything innovative. The innovative coins tthat are VERY VERY FEW have been cloned and rebranded multiple times. It doesnt matter anymore whether a coin is innovative or not. Alt Currency is a game. You either get in when its LOW, if you can spot a low and get out when its high, there is NOTHING UNIQUE ABOUT ANY COIN. None of these coins will get real life play, none of these coins will be adopted, NONE OF THESE COINS will exist a year from now. Ride the train, get out before its too late.

Most of the coins are made by asians, and other illterate fucks with poor grammar and composition skills. Everyone focuses on a fucking LOGO and all these ALT COIN have NOTHING going for it aside from the VERY VERY FEW. Im not going to hate. play this game, if your winning you wont bitch.

There are innovative coins i.e. (curecoin, gridcoin, counterparty, peercoin, mastercoin, darkcoin), but 80% of people seem to be more interested in the next shitcoin.

Is the only difference between curecoin and gridcoin that one is FAH (stanford) and the other is BOINC (berkeley)?
Right now they are similiar however curecoin has 2 methods of mining at once sha256 and the folding miners. With curecoin those giving the network security do not benefit folding projects. They are also less likely to continue supporting the network once mining becomes less profitable. You can't feel as good just giving network security as say finding a cure for cancer. Those miners will drop off as soon as there's no money to be made causing a less secure network and higher likelihood of a fork. I feel that gridcoin has an advantage because of this. Also the new wallet looks amazing. Next gen stuff. More advanced than nearly any other coin.

What gridcoin really needs is an effective marketing program. Currently curecoin is winning in that department. I truly hope both of them become the most successful coins. It perplexes me how so many seem so interested in all the shitcoins than the ones that truly make a difference.

- folding pool is not responsive - I have mined for days and not seen a payout or even an estimated payout.  This is a huge deterrant.

Sounds like mining Bitmonero

I have received a payout. It seems it takes about 48 hours on your first day to receive credit and a payout for your points then about 24 hours after your first payout for every other day. While the delay is annoying I can understand it. It forces miners to not hop to this coin just because it's profitable. This would make work much harder for the scientists that are using our mining power to help cure diseases. It would leave tons of uncompleted work units that would cause many anomolies in their data. If that happened enough then it could ruin their research.

Many people who don't believe in bitcoin say that it provides no value on it's own. In a way they are correct. It uses tons of power and there are better alternatives. It holds such are large market share primarily because it was the first of it's kind. Curecoin is the first of it's kind. It is one of the first coins to provide value on it's own. When I buy it I know that it represents a step towards a world free of disease. Mining it is more than just security and speculation it is an investment in a better future for all humanity.

There's barely any to buy on bittrex it'd be easy to buy up the whole order book. I know there's more coins out there so it's a good sign that everyone is holding onto this coin. I appreciate having an active dev. I see both long term and short term potential in this coin. I will be posting information on my university bulletin board at University of Texas at Arlington in the coming days.

We also have a bitcoin club I will be mentioning this coin in. College is the perfect place to introduce cryptocurrencies. I believe this coin can help spread the benefits they could provide much further particularly once it's power friendly pos.

Re: [ANN] [PIG] Piggycoin - update your Piggybanks to 1.3!
by

Don't worry about Asics.  People are not going to be mining your little piggy coins with those monsters.  There are 100 more profitable and stable coins to mine.  Besides that, there are no buyers on the exchanges for them to dump massive piggy, so don't worry, keep it PoW, but if you are worried, just switch it to Scrypt-N, that will keep asics out, but not go to a totally new or unproven alogrythm.  But of course that requires a hard fork.

P.S. What is piggy week?  Some clues please.

It's already been targeted by a profit-switching multipool (ipominer) so saying there are '100 more profitable coins to mine' is false.  As the price rises, other multipools will jump onboard & mine piggy...

Ipominer doesn't autosell coins. I'll admit I'm a bit biased because I use ipominer, but I've made the most money off of just letting it mine then holding the coins.

Thief buys mtgox with his 700k bitcoins and assasins gunning for mtgox staff. Runs the exchange better for months. Runs off with 1000k bitcoins after a few months of money laundering. Most banks shut their doors to bitcoin withdrawals and adopt much of the technology in bitcoin that they can freely get from the source code. The bank wins, the thieves win, everyone else gets goxed.

Mt gox is making bitcoin look like such a joke to any outside investors. Imagine being approached by a bitcoin business and then seeing this ridiculousness. It's sad really. We will recover, but the more times gox does this the longer it will take.

Mt gox's custom client adds a loading queue and transaction malleability causes slowness and the bitcoin coders buggy software causes problems causing 2 week delays... or something like that

It's odd how it takes gox a week to deploy a fix for a problem that it supposedly found and other exchanges fix this problem within a couple days. The last couple updates did happen around 7pm. Probably around the time they leave the office so they don't have to deal with all the backlash lol.

I have the same problem of course there was no contact information left and no way to withdraw coins. I have the same problem with cryptochomper with cga coins. I don't feel to bad so far since it's not listed anywhere, but if it becomes worth anything I will find the pool owner whether he wants to be found or not.

Does the legal precedent apply to bitcoin exchanges also or only to regular currency/stock exchanges? What if he's legally able to operate an insolvent exchange because there's little regulation currently on bitcoin.

wait a second - how the hell would this vulnerability allow withdrawing unlimited amount of bitcoins?

if you withdraw coins and dupe the TX with a wrong hash you are not getting double coins in any way and why would a marketplace then refund the customer? it doesn't make any sense.

if you deposit coins and dupe the TX with a wrong hash then you may see "unconfirmed" coins under your balance that will never get any confirmations.

explain me if I misunderstand anything here

It wouldn't. However in mtgox's case they had their wallet set to auto approve these requests and were just giving people bitcoins out of their hot wallet that they didn't own. Basically they were giving people attempting to fraud them other people's bitcoins.

I don't really think malleability problem got  the coins stolen. I think there was either some other exploit on the site or the admin stole them. He could then post the information of a vendor that caused him problems and it'd be win win for the admin.

So, what happened to everyone spitting on Gox when they first blamed the protocol? Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like they've done quite the service for spotlighting this issue.

Mtgox is the only exchange so far that would have double spent bitcoins due their poor wallet coding not waiting for confirmations before withdrawing users funds. Basically mtgox was withdrawing and depositing imaginary bitcoins.
