So if any newbie is reading this please understand i say with 100% confidence that bitcointalk.org is the most friendly and welcoming place for you to learn discuss about cryptos and relevant technology.
I'm more an observer than a poster yet, but I can at least agree in part with you. There are many really nice and intelligent people here. On the other hand I also saw some quite harsh reactions to the less well informed.
Overall the forum is a great informational resource with tons of interesting topics around bitcoin.

Re: NVC giveaway !!! Trade it, use it, enjoy it. Only 2nd after BTC by price
While I'm pro competition I do not see that the alternatives offer any revolutionary new concept compared to bitcoin.
PPCoin?
It seems interesting. But I don't know if the concept will work - have to read a bit more about it though.
In fact, I think a effectively deflationary coin like bitcoin (which in strict terms is also inflationary) is a good idea. This is contrarian to the current fiat system. And I think we have already seen that such an inflationary system does not work well longer term... I mean everybody will spend some of his wealth at a certain point of monetary value in relation to his needs. A deflationary system mostly prevents unneccessary spending which saves resources but will not prevent economic prosperity. Artificially induced demand (via inflation) is not healthy.

Litecoin uses different hashing, which could serve as a backup in the unlikely case sha failes.

Would surely not "invest" in this.
Only if I was among those who started it.

Ignore the naysayers and just do it!
You have almost nothing to loose.
If you do it nicely you will attract some customers.

I think .pdf in addition to .epub is a must.
If you have different formats, offer them separately. Most readers need only one.
I would do pricing in mBTC, as long as bitcoin is that valuable.
