got an OCO order question
by
6erth6rind6ain
on 23/04/2021, 09:15:10 UTC
https://ibb.co/42y90gs

This is the OCO window on my binance.us exchange. I'm just using it for an example.

I making this post to check and see if I understood what I learned about this via googling it out and youtubing it out:

Inputs:

Price------------------ the price of the cryptocurrency in question in which I want to sell

Stop------------------ the price in which I want to sell x amount of coins if the value of said coins drops to a certain level(if this order is fulfilled, it'll cancel the higher price that I want to sell, but if
the higher price is reached before the price I input in "Stop", it'll cancel the sell order I typed in this "Stop" box, thus this being called a OCO order as in "order cancels order"

Limit----------------- the price I want the OCO bot to stop buying coins (for example, if I want to sell x amount of dogecoins when it makes it to .30/coin (USD) but but not sell anymore if the price
                              goes above .30/coin (USD)

Amount-------------- the x amount of coins I want to purchase

slider----------------- just a lazy way to decide my "x amount" of coins that I want to buy

Total----------------- how much my "x amount" of coins would cost me in USD

Do I finally "get" how to make an OCO order or do I not understand this correctly?

Well the dogecoin bubble finally popped haha. I pulled out half of my profits(which eventually became 3,400.00) in time but that was beginner's luck. I'll just refuse to sell the rest of my dogecoins so that I don't violate the 4th commandment of crypto, haha. I'm off to invest in other cryptos now and finally deversify my portfolio this time. I ended up developing a list of rules to follow that I now refer to as  "The 6 commandments of Crypto" to follow just through my noob experiences with doge. It's just common sense tactics that I think even stock traders use:

I. Thou shalt never invest more than thou can afford to lose
II. Thou shalt sell high and buy low
III. Thou shalt not keep all of thy eggs in one basket
IV. Thou shalt not invest in shit coins
VI. Thou shalt not have paper hands

first of all I never wrote that I asked millions of questions. the words I used was "a gazillion questions". Gazillion does not mean millions. Gazillion isn't even a real word. So obviously I was making a metaphor. A metaphor that implies that I lost count how many questions I've asked already.

second, I never implied that 2,782.87 USD is 'big money'. This is a success story for me because I learned how to invest a certain amount of money(2,000.00 USD to be exact) and then slightly more than double it. And yes, this does fall under the category of "money I can afford to lose" because the "money I've been saving up to invest" is completely separate from my checking account and savings account and is therefore completely separate from my normal real life budget as well. It took a while for me to save up 2,000.00 dollars because I was creating a pile of money over time in which if I were to lose it all, It would not affect my checking account money or my savings account money, and therefore not affect my ability to pay my bills and go on with my life as if I never discovered crypto in the first place.

I decided to take the original amount of money that I invested, and put it into my savings account. This means my normal budget now has 2,000.00 extra in normal savings. This results in me no longer having a "savings account" that's separate from my normal checking account and savings account. I have 2,782.87 dollars worth of gains on my binance.us account and I'm using that to trade with.

I did all that so that I can experiment in crypto, without putting "my ability to pay my bills" in danger. I may be new to cypto but I'm not new to doing whatever is necessary to "stay out of financial trouble".

I hope that clarifies things for everyone. Smiley

If people thing I'm being disingenuous, that's not my problem. I'm too old to be caring what other people think of me. There's always going to be "those types of people" in a crowd that'll take anything you say or do and twist it into something negative. That is completely out of my control and I see no reason to worry about that.

WHOAH! As soon as doge started pumping again today, binance.us started glitching out again! But this time, I'm able to connect, but the new issue is that the chart isn't loading. Everything else on the exchange webpage for doge seems to be working. Here's a screenshot of what I'm experiencing haha. I have to use the binance.us app on my phone to look at the chart now.

My first success story trading crypto
by

on 17/04/2021, 19:07:01 UTC
Well I originally had a plan where I was going to save up 4,000.00 USD as "money that I would use to invest in crypto that is also money I can afford to lose". That way I can invest in a big way and it's not the end of the world for me if I fail and lose it all. I spent months researching what crypto was, how it works, asking a gazillion questions on this forum, etc.

But when I finally had 2,000.00 USD saved up, I decided to not wait till I have 4,000.00 to start investing and I've been scalp trading for the last few days with dogecoin.

Just a few minutes ago, I took the 2,000.00 USD that I spent investing and withdrew it and put it back into my bank account. The money I now have in my portfolio on binance.us is now the profit that I'm trading with. ....and my balance is 2,782.87. Yes, that's right. I made 2,782.87 in just a few days by scalp trading on dogecoin! My original 2,000.00 dollars is back in my bank account (well, I have to wait 2 business days before it's OFFICIALLY back in my bank account because of the proccessing time I have to wait)....and now I'm just using my profits to trade with.

This is awesome! Just wanted to post this here and say thank you to everybody who answered my gazillion rookie trader questions. I put the stuff I learned on my own and stuff I learned in this forum to good use! WOOT

A quick question about setting limit orders on an exchange.
by
6erth6rind6ain
on 16/04/2021, 21:47:46 UTC
I'm using binance.us as an example in this question because that's the exchange I'm using.

I've finally gotten the hang of setting buy orders and sell orders to the point of successfully scalping. I've been practicing with dogecoin because of how cheap it is and because of it's fast volatility right now. (Well fast, compared to ADA).

I had an idea and wanted to know how I can do it(and if it's even possible).

I want to program a sell order for x amount of coins for when/if the amount of dogecoin I have reaches .45/coin...but at the same time, I would like to program an automatic sell order where I sell all my doge if it dips below .30/coin in order to prevent epic losses.

Can I do both at the same time? If so, how do I do that on binance.us market exchange?

For now, what I've been doing, is making a sell order for .45 and once that sell order has been completed, I quickly make a buy order for when/if doge drops back down to .30. And of course I was only able to do this once, since doge hit .45 for the first time(that I'm aware of) today.

wow thanks. Yeah I've been following doge closely because it's cheap price grants me the oppurtunity to practice scalp trading. I'm starting to get the hang of scalping without having to spend too much money. The moment binance.us was crashing was the exact moment dogecoin was crashing robinhood. That was exciting to watch.

⭐ Merited by DdmrDdmr (1)
I'm Looking for a tutorial that'll teach me to use tools in binance.us market exchange, such as "how to display a limit order on the graph", or how to draw/erase trend lines, how to change colors of lines on the graph, what the blue, red and purple lines mean on a red/green candle graph, etc.

I've been searching for one via google/youtube and all I find are tutorials on how to setup an account on binance, but not how to use the graph tools. So far the only thing I know how to do understand what green candles vs. red candles mean, and how to create buy/sell limit orders.

Binance.us market exchanged just crashed!!!

Ok, today, as a beginner, I finally figured out how to navigate the market exchange on binance.us. I started scalp trading, and I made 72 bucks in 30 minutes!

...but then the craziest thing happened...

the market exchange on binance.us just froze up. I then tried to use the exchange via my binance.us app on my phone and it's froze on my phone too!

on my pc, I have a bar icon that when I hover my mouse over it, it says: connecting.

I've never seen this type of malfuction before. There's nothing wrong with my internet. What does this mean? Should I be worried? I can't scalp under these conditions! hahaha

I want to share my trading strategies with you. If i have 4000$, then i divide this amount into 4 parts. And it means my every worth of 1000$. If my trade is going opposite to me, then i use the second portion for average. And i invest my money in different coins. Because if i struck i one coin then the other coin recover my loss. This is  my strategy for day trading.

cool! I like that idea.

Preparing to make my very first limit order.
by
6erth6rind6ain
on 15/04/2021, 14:50:57 UTC
I think I've only been exploring the world of crypto for about a month or so now.

I have accounts on both coinbase and binance.us.

I purchased 400 dogecoin a while ago and noticed that this week the price shot up as high as .14. Considering how cheap and volatile this crypto is, I want to use it to make a limit order just for the purpose of learning, and I think I may have figured it out. I'm making this post to explain my steps to verify I know how to do this before I create the limit order as an experiment.

I sold all 400 of my dogecoins this morning when they were worth .13 USD per coin. I now have a USD account balance 52.00 USD. I want to take this 52.00 USD and purchase as much dogecoin as I can when/if it dips back down to .12 USD per coin. Here are the steps I 'think' I should be taking to create a limit order so that my binance.us account will automatically buy 52.00 USD worth of DOGE when/if it drops back down to .12/coin:

1. Click on the trade button next to dogecoin

2. In the "buy DOGE" box on the left I fill in the following info:
    Price: 0.12
    Amount: 433
Total: 52.00 (putting 52.00 automatically brings the "amount" of dogecoins I can get with 52.00 USD)

3. I click on the green button labeled "Buy DOGE"

4. I sit back and wait until/if DOGE ever goes back down to .12 USD/DOGE. If the prices does indeed go back down to .12, my account will somehow automatically purchase the maximum amount of Dogecoins I can get at .12/coin.

5. The result is that I will have 33 extra coins.

Did I just finished figuring out how to do this correctly?

I hate being such a noob but I gotta learn this some time. Smiley

I need to transfer some of my crypto from my account on coinbase.com to binance.us. I'm doing it just for the learning experience. But as I tried to do I I realized that I don't know how to do this. I know how to transfer money from one wallet to another, but how do I transfer crypto from one exchange account to another? What are the steps?

But as I was exploring this new browser's features, I discovered options in which I can earn BAT tokens. What the heck is a token? Is that just another word for coin?

When is this bull run(whatever that is) supposed to end?
No problem, maybe you are a busy person, so maybe you don't have time to find / read the same topic that has been discussed and asked here.

I hope% the information below can make you a little relieved about: the topic: "When is the end of the bull run" you want to ask.

Happy reading, hope you can find a bright spot for you.
1. Topic: When BTC Bull run will end?
2. Topic: Bull run: will it end in May?
3. Topic: When will the current Bull run stop
4. Topic: 2020/2021 BULL RUN, COULD IT BE ENDING?

lol thanks. Yeah I'm in school full time on top of working part time and have a 6 year old at home so I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off haha. I pop in and out of this forum whenever I have random breaks througout the day. Thanks! Smiley

Ok, I keep hearing a phrase used a lot when watching news videos about crypto currency as in:

"This is gonna happen by the end of the bull run"

"value of x currency is predicted to rise/fall to x value by the end of this bull run"

"things look very bullish"

As a beginner I've managed to figure out what the term bullish means, and it seems to apply to same term "bullish" when dealing with stock market trade. And through that I can deduce what "bull run" means.

But if I watch a youtube video that is released TODAY, and the narrator says "x currency is going to rise/fall to x value by the end of this bull run", what is the time frame he is talking about? When is this bull run(whatever that is) supposed to end?

When I tried to google this, I only find information about a historic event that has nothing to do with cryptocurrency.

Re: day trading crypto in the United States Vs. the IRS
by
6erth6rind6ain
on 09/04/2021, 00:12:52 UTC
Well that was a rather interesting experience with the CPA that I had. Maybe I paid 50 bucks for 30 minutes with the wrong CPA but she wouldn't give me a straight answer on whether or not cryptotrader.tax is legit or not. She even flat out said that she hopes that I do my crypto taxes with her next year and not somewhere else so she didn't give me a straight answer about that.

But I was able to get reassurance from her that if I implemented the day trading strategy which I think is called scalp trading, that every time I convert crypto from one form to another it will trigger a taxable event, and that the percentage is dependent on the amount of gain, but no matter what I won't end up owing more taxes than gain by the end of the year.

So basically, if I do cash out any gains, I should keep it safe in an extra savings account and don't spend anything until after doing my taxes next year.

Through this, she did help me find something on coinbase that I didn't even know that was there.

Right under settings, if you click on "taxes and Reports" it'll lead you to a webpage that give info on taxes and there's a link titled "go to cointracker".

That led me to another website called cointracker.io. I purchased a monthly membership so I can explore it, and there's a link on my account at cointracker.io where it holds a record of every SINGLE transaction I've ever done on my coinbase account. I also learned that on binance.us, the only other exchange where I invested anything with (I got a few DOGE coins for the lolz) that I can actually get a 'statement', but I can only get that statement a limited x amount of times a year.

I have no idea how I'm going to keep track of all my transactions if I day trade at all, and I've already lost track of my transactions doing little experiments like exchanging really small amount of one form of crypto to another to test if I really understand how it works.

So as far as I know, the best way I'm going to file my taxes regarding crypto next year is to either:
A. Use cointracker.io or cryptotrader.tax and plug it directly into a turbotax
or
B. Hire a CPA next year to help me do my crypto taxes for the first time next year.

So far, that's all I've been able to learn about the matter, other than the CPA informing me that the IRS is planning on getting more strict and crack down more on crypto. Uncle Sam just needs that extra dollar to waste on something stupid like rockets that ain't reusable haha.

How to reach that next level of crypto knowledge all beginners have to face.
by
6erth6rind6ain
on 08/04/2021, 15:39:44 UTC
As a beginner, I was exploring coinbase pro, and I noticed that when I look at the LTC market for example, when I click on the coinbase pro button to look at that market, or any market, my web browser fills my screen with a candle craph and a tone of other information.

My goal is to be able to look at that webpage and be able understand/navigate the whole thing. But there has to be a class on it. And so far I've found online beginners classes spread around the internet and as I'm exploring which one to take I'm making this post to ask you guys:

What online class should I take so that I can comprehend what I'm looking at when viewing this webpage? As of right now, it's all greek to me. I understand the graphs just fine on coinbase, but coinbase pro is useless to me because I don't understand any of it.

Here's the webpage I'm talking about: https://pro.coinbase.com/trade/LTC-USD
