Hello Tytanick, the ethernet card from my mobo is damaged and I've been trying to install this USB adapter https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Delock_62417 using this driver https://github.com/geoffreytran/AX88179_178A but it seems impossible, works on regular ubuntu machines but I'm unable to get it to work on SMOS, can you help me?

thanks in advance

hello, any chance of support for overclocking with nvidia cards? the 1060's in particular can mine at 23 mhs with 70% or even less power limit, afterburner only support 8 gpus max, kinda of a bummer with 13+ pcie slots motherboards.

Re: Better temps with inverted airflow on Antminer S9 ?
by
ANTZ25
on 20/02/2018, 01:14:31 UTC

I'm going to explain the situation;

Because of the config of the rack where  I have my miners (with the cables on the back -hot aisle-)
when I got my S9's I inverted the fans of the miner effectively changing the airflow direction...

any thoughts on this?

Any update on this?  Interested in doing the same thing...

not mining anymore, except for a couple gpu's, into trading and hodling now. While they were inverted they worked fine.

I would be interested to see how this works out as well. My guess is that what is happening is that the temperature sensors are not getting an accurate reading since they are reading air temperatures at the air intake now instead of exhaust so the air heated by the ASIC chips is not being read by the sensor chips now.

yes, but the thing is, the temp sensors on the ASIC chips (which i guess are embed in the chip, nobody really knows) also report lower temps.

I agree it seems like the T9 thread has been very quiet which really does imply that it addresses the S9/R4 issues.  No one complaining yet so this is a good sign.  But then again when the S9 first started shipping people were happy too.

So maybe another 30 days and we should probably have a good idea if there is going to be any fallout.

my S9's started failing 80 days in (10 days short of the warranty expiring), got a few boards repaired under warranty. At least now they come with 180 days warranty.

try a few things first, try with lower hashrate (if the firmware allow it) if still having the problem, replace power supply and test, replace or swap data cables (ribbon white ones) and test, if you have more than one miner, try putting the board on another miner, if problem persist just send them to repair.

I don't know if the machine will work without both fans connected, but, you could power the fans with an external 12v power supply, just have to connect the pwm pin to the +12v and it will work at full speed. (with the regular + and - to the other pins also of course).

what's with the difference in fan speeds?

http://i.imgur.com/6IiddrD.jpg

The push fan is slower with a resistor in the feed wire.  This lowers back pressure from blowing too hard into the heat sinks.

but are the same fans models right? who controls the speed? is any order you should connect the fans on the main board?

bitmain told me that that message is because at least one of the board are degraded (chips burnt) o total damage, try with a single board at a time, eventually worked for me, you have to wait a good 15-20 minutes, but at the end worked. I will recommend NOT TO USE the firmware on bitmain's site, is awful, try to find the stock firmware.

I haven't had these problems with my miners, a lot others, but no this ones, I recommend you to open a ticket on bitmain's website and explain the situation, it seems, I'm not sure, the control board, you mentioned they are still under warranty, use it, because after that they charge between 200-300$ for repair any board plus shipping, before that you could try reflash the firmware, or maybe try the stock firmware they came with if you can find it. the fan speeds look unusual, they should be spinning at around the same rpms, when you open the ticket at bitmain's they give you the option to upload screencaps, explain the problem to them, I think is the control board not sure.

Better temps with inverted airflow on Antminer S9 ?
by
ANTZ25
on 06/01/2017, 19:26:19 UTC

I'm going to explain the situation;

Because of the config of the rack where  I have my miners (with the cables on the back -hot aisle-)
when I got my S9's I inverted the fans of the miner effectively changing the airflow direction,
and they have been operating in that configuration for a few months now, this are the temps I get:

http://i.imgur.com/xCZ1Gwt.jpg

now, I decide to finally take care of the cable config of my rack, and proceed and reverse the
fans config off the first S9, this is what happen:

http://i.imgur.com/YxelbzZ.jpg

as you can see there's a 15-16° difference between the 2 settings, anybody has try this?? I thought maybe
the temp sensor is closer to one fan in one config and maybe that's why, but the difference is also
on the chip temp reading, I assume the chip temp sensor is embedded within the hashing chip like most PC's CPU's,
so the temp reading have to be accurate.

any thoughts on this?

Re: Help with Antminer S9 HW errors (numbers)?

why on the 11TH appears fan 6 with 15.120 rpm?

I don't know should I be worried? What should i look at.

This my status of the fan on my 11TH atm.

             Fan#   Fan1   Fan2   Fan3   Fan4   Fan5   Fan6   Fan7   Fan8
Speed (r/min)   0   0   4,680   0   0   10,200   0   0

Thanks

I don't know, never seen any thing like that, if you invert the fan connectors does show the same reading? I don't think there's a mayor problem but I notice the temps on the 13th one are lower than the 11th one.

Re: hardware version "Socket connect failed: Connection refused

saludos!
