is any exchange for merit besides merit market?
Nope. Not yet.

your ticker is MERIT or MRT?
MRT. Though Miner's Reward Token also has the same ticker. It is a coincidence.

Good to see the ParJar announcement finally on BCT. I think this may be the first announcement of anything related to the Parachute token on this forum. Been using ParJar for quite some time now (full disclosure: I've also been recently made an admin in the ParJar Telegram Room because I am active there) and it is pretty fun and simple to use to be honest. Hope to see it being adopted as commonly as a combot or pollbot across Telegram groups soon.

This is looking like a pyramid more than ever.
I don't know what more to say about your pyramid argument. A lot of folks have already tried to explain this. All PoS coins would be a pyramid scheme by your reasoning. And they are not.

i need help... i created my walet @Maicol792 how i can unlock the wallet?? thanks for help
Looks like TC11 is your inviter as per https://merit.disifi.com/wallet/Maicol792. He's available mostly on Discord. You can connect to him there to get your wallet unlocked. If he is unreachable or your wallet still remains locked, you can use my link (in my signature) to set up a new wallet with the same alias (all aliases are up for grabs until they get unlocked). I'll unlock your invite request.

Good day! Why mining is already two days does not bring coins?
Are you CPU mining in the Merit/Parachute pool? In that case, your payout goes out when the mined amount builds upto 0.1 MRT. You can check out your stats at https://pool.merit.me/account/username/ (for Merit pool) OR, https://parachute.merit.me/account/username/ (for Parachute pool). Check your MRT share per block and check if the sums add upto 0.1

Anybody here know the telegram group for the merit parachute pool ? And or Discord ?
Thanks.
Check out: https://merit.disifi.com/pools and click on "Show" beside Parachute Pool

I will give a look at Parachute Pool. I've also made a little try to mine with my very limited resources since indeed the wallet seems very friendly for doing that, but the wallet didn't detect in my system any GPU card it could mine with, and I have a 1060 nvidia card. Which could be the reason for that?
It's usually because you don't have have the latest CUDA installed. Once that is updated, lightwallet should be able to detect your GPU. Also make sure that your GPU has at least 2 GB free so that it can participate in mining.

Do you have plans to be listed on any stock exchange ?
It's currently traded on an internal exchange (market.merit.me). And yes, there are plans for other exchanges. As per the last AMA, timeline for new exchange is Q4 of this year. But no updated news on that yet.

I have joined the Merit network since the idea is in itself quite mind boggling. The mission of achieving a more effective decentralization than most of the other coins out there through a system of invitations is great.
However after having joined the network I'm having a few doubts. First I had to beg for a few invitations which I could use to convalidate the invitations I would make for my friends. Then, once I've finally managed to invite two friends whom I could validate, now I am unable to supply them with invitations that THEY can use if the want to invite anyone. In other words, the growth of the network in my direction is stuck and so it will probably stay, since we won't spend our time begging for more invitations because we are not beggars, and if it has happened to me and my friends that would probably apply to most of newcomers. Of course, beggars will possibly succeed in getting more invitations, in which case the system is likely to select a population of beggars, not the kind of community I'd like to be part of.
This means that once again early adopters got too much advantage over later adopters, which is the same paradigm of Bitcoin and the other coins - in other words the mission of a better decentralization will probably not be achieved by Merit either.
If I'm wrong I'd like to hear why. If there is no smooth way to allow me and others to perform the "Proof of Growth" without having to beg, then such growth simply won't happen.

Great points! And you are right about the current difficulty's of merit invites. Have you seen this overview video?

https://youtu.be/KrPVbkJ1IZo

I don't think you need to beg to get free invites. Did you ask the person who invited you? Or did you ask on discord? Many of us hand out invites to those who need it for free!

When it comes to getting them on your own, the best place for a casual miner would be to pool mine in the parachute pool. Invites are not distributed by hash power. If you're a serious miner you shouldn't have any issues getting invites from any pool.

I hope that helps explain a few other ways. Invites shouldn't be too easy to get though!

Weeks have passed and "without begging" for merits I'm stuck, which raises in me some major questions about the functionality of this system. Yes, true, I've got 3 invites from the person who has first invited me and I've used them to invite friends, to whom of course I'm now unable to give any invites to help them grow the network since I have none any more. So that's a dead end, since we're not miners. My friends already forgot about this project and soon will I too.
Joined Merit 3-4 months back. Never had to "beg" for INVs ever. The reason for this being, I "mine" in the Parachute Pool. To be honest, I can't PoW mine much because of limited hardware (I have an ageing CPU for crypto work). Most mining pools distribute their own MRTs and INVs based on the hash contributed by a miner. Parachute Pool has taken a different way to distribute its MRTs and INVs. They also consider if you helped folks on Telegram, been active in the community, invited others etc. Every single factor makes you eligible for the pool MRT and INV distribution at month end. Though, people who tick more boxes get more. But everybody qualifies for some MRT and INV even if they satisfy only a few conditions. More information on the pools here: https://merit.disifi.com/pools

With the new fork it looks like mining rewards for pow are dropping to 5 from 10 per block, is this correct or am I mistaken?
Yes, that is correct. PoG3 (Proof-of-Growth v3.0) which will start on Nov 5, will make PoW:PoG payout per block 5:15 from 10:10

Somewhere it says "limited invites".
How many invites in total can one give to people? Is there a way to increase the amount of invites possible?
You can give as many invite tokens as you have in your available balance to people. Check the following post to know how to increase amount of invite tokens: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5008767.msg46690177#msg46690177

Help people good. )) I registered, my wallet was unlocked, and then how? People are languishing in the waiting list, invitation spaces are zero. Where to take invites, how to mine, tell me the algorithm of actions. Help, you can PM. I would be grateful. In Measure listed as @aleksvkibo
Check the following post to know how to increase amount of invite tokens: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5008767.msg46690177#msg46690177
If you have downloaded the lightwallet client, mining is pretty simple. Just go to mining tab, select pool and threads and Start.
Please note, there are 2 things in Merit: The Merit coin (MRT) which is the native coin of Merit and Invite token (INV) which is needed to invite new people into the Merit blockchain.
Mining essentially means mining MRT. Mining involves both PoW mining and PoG (Proof of Growth) mining. Also, this mining activity pays out INV tokens which are random and are based on a lottery. Would be best to read up a bit on Merit from https://www.merit.me/

joined decided to try to purchase 450 coins and has already paid two hour wait. no response to any greeting. how long is the confirmation on https://market.merit.me/exchange ?
interestingly my transaction is not getting confirmation https://www.blockchain.com/en/btc/address/38pe12yhH4KoZJgn8pAcSH3QoiJzDvvAKV

Hey tamara163, a buy order is confirmed and executed as soon as there is 1 confirmation on the bitcoin blockchain. IIRC, if there's not even a single confirmation of the BTC txn on the chain after an hour, then the transaction goes stale. If your BTC is stuck in limbo, the team will resolve this very promptly if you give them a heads up on the #market channel of Merit Discord (https://discordapp.com/invite/X3v3n3b).

It's INVITE market? Huh
I think we need spetial tread for it..
Sure looks spammy. But this is Merit's Ann thread and since it's an invite-only blockchain, some folks are eager to post their invite links. Can't help it  Embarrassed

But would surely love to see some content other than just invite links. On that note, PoG3 (version 3.0 of Proof of Growth algorithm) seems to be around the corner. Testing for that begins on the testnet this week.

Quoting Max (mempko) on the objective of PoG3: "The result will actually be a simpler, faster, and fairer lottery. Merit uses an algorithm called the Pachira Lottree (based on research by Microsoft) which solves the sybil attack issue other lottrees have. PoG2 used Pachira but we are tweaking the dynamics for PoG3 a bit to get closer to where we want it."

the mining process seems to be the same as other chains...
The mining process is actually quite simple. Especially for mining newbs like me. The lightwallet client allows mining in a pool with a click. And the lightwallet client is not the run-of-the-mill QT client. It has been made specifically for Merit.

...the invite distribution, the dev decided to keep 10% of them for new miners; that number seem to be manually set
10% is not for "new" miners but is rather to random addresses (could be PoW miners, could be not). And there is no manual setting or human bias in the distribution.

He might be talking about the 10% that the IceMining pool keeps... but either way! We're all right Smiley
Oh ok, got it. Yup. Icemining does keep 10% INVs. ifyousmell, yes that is set manually and depends on the pool owner entirely. So if you mine in any pool, the pool owner will have his/her own way for distributing.

...how many tokens will be awarded in 2019 Wink?
1 block mined per minute
20 MRT released per block
So 28800 MRT per day
=> 10.5M MRT in 2019 unless halving occurs next year

⭐ Merited by sockpuppet1911 (2)
What can I do to receive more invites or invite tokens? Don't really have the gear to mine this at the moment.
Copy Pasting from Super Community Member disifi's post on Discord:
"- Invites are Airdropped in 3 different ways
      - 50% awarded based on your CGS (Community Growth Score)
      - 40% awarded to new addresses (Max 1 per address)
      - 10% awarded to random addresses
-  1 out of 10 blocks an invite is awarded to a miner
- Minimum of 144 invites airdropped per day. Grows as needed.
- Number Airdropped based on overall growth, more growth means more invites generated"

In fact, PoW miners don't earn a lot of INVs (invite tokens) from their mining work per se.

There are a number of ways to earn/get INVs:
1) Payout from pools. All mining pools give out INVs to their miners. Most pools distribute INV based on hash power. Parachute Pool is more favorable for small-time and hobby miners (make sure to join their TG and fill pinned form if you mine with them). Details on mining pools: https://merit.disifi.com/pools
2) Asking your inviter for some. It is in the best interest of your inviter that you grow your network since it improves his CGS.
3) "Mine" an invite. This is random and the probability of it happening is entirely based on your CGS.
4) The last method is to buy OTC on Discord (with someone from the Super Community acting as escrow). Though this is the last resort if you can't get any INVs from the above methods.

Edit: I see Kamo has already answered this while I was typing. His point #2 is another way to get some INVs.
Edit #2: Thanks for the merits sockpuppet1911  Smiley

Today ive sold a ps vita game (redeemable code) in exchange for merit, might be the first thing sold with it Smiley

I'm new to this forum, if I can how will people know they want to join your community over the other links everywhere?
It doesn't matter whose link you join with. Everybody's link works and makes no difference whichever one you use. It's just that some may not have free invite tokens to accept your invite request anymore. The people who have posted most recently, may have though. Best to check on explorer whether someone has available invites at all to invite you in: https://merit.disifi.com/wallet

I think whos link you join can be important. There are many people who give out invites, merit, and help to people who they invite. We have a very helpful community overall but some people are more helpful than others.
Yup. Agree. In the sense that you need help from your inviter, the invite link matters. Also the fact that some inviters send goodies (MRTs/INVs) to their invitees. But in general, the community is super helpful anyways and the FAQ page (https://www.merit.me/faq/) helps a lot. So I didn't need to seek help from my inviter because of that.
P.S. My inviter is an awesome dude though Smiley
