Before I Die...
by
Absinthe
on 11/12/2017, 10:36:48 UTC
I want to see every single bank - central, private, or public, moneylenders, etc. wiped off the face of the earth.

I want to see every person earning less than $2 a day (10% of the world, definitely more as hidden figures and ever falling fiat value) have food, clothing, and shelter.

I want to see human beings transact across borders without any fear or market manipulations.

I want to see every human being live the life of dignity, as a free, sovereign individual, who takes care of his own food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare.

"Satoshi is Cyber Buddha - he arrived on this planet to liberate us from the central banking hegemony of fiat currency - a never ending cycle of booms and busts. Bitcoin is Nirvana."

I will die, but I...

WE.

WILL.

LIVE.

Bringing Bitcoin to the Masses
by
Absinthe
on 09/12/2017, 06:26:06 UTC
As Satoshi envisioned it to be the biggest transfer of wealth, from the haves 1% to the have nots 99%

What are some best ways to educate and bring BTC to the masses.

To explain them that centrally issued fiats are an illusion to enslave them.

Not as an investment, but as insurance - against govts, banks, and corporations. When the shit really starts hitting the fan.

What is the best way to explain a farmer in Africa, or a housewife in India about good and sound money, in a way they understand.

BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE?

I'm sure there's quite a few - but they would not want to reveal themselves for obvious reasons.

Every year that goes by, every new milestone that's hit, makes them all the more lucrative as a target.

Besides, who knows what the concept of nation states / countries looks like in 10-20-30 years.

Bitcoin has done the impossible - separated money from state.

Therefore, the concept of "Indian" early adopters, seems too short-sighted.

If we stop buying from these, then where can we buy from. I just made an account on Unocoin after reading positive reviews about it.

Centralised exchanges are the weakest link in a decentralised P2P currency world. They are on their way out, within a year or two at most. They only exist because it's the only way you can convert fiat to BTC and back to fiat again.

We saw this with MTGOX in 20013, Bitfinex in 2015, and now Poloniex is stuttering on withdrawals.

With decentralised exchanges like Waves, Counterparty, Bitshares, or even something like ShapeShift - centralised exchanges that have a single point of failure (hacks, DDoS) will be increasing irrelevant unless they become a blockchain / coin of their own like the fore mentioned CCs.

Especially for a country like ours whose demand for crypto is going to wash over like a tsunami in the next few years.

Absinthe

I am sure you are not a newbie, u know more stuff..
Who r u

Just someone who was lucky enough to learn about crypto in July 2013, but not brave enough to go all in until May 2017.

Hahaha.

Dear HI-TEC99, HCP

Thank you very much for your help. I was successfully able to :

1. Export the private keys from Multibit Classic (disconnected the internet, solved the grayed out problem)
2. Imported into Electrum
3. Did a sweep of all the balance into new Electrum address with high fee for fast transaction

I think the problem was that I had over 200 wallet addresses which was causing the blockchain sync/reset issue

Thank you for all the help. And apologies to OP for hijacking the thread.

It is the first one you show.

What if I reset my computer  to an earlier date?  say like early 2016.  when the wallet was working.

my Bitcoin was bought at four different times.  .45 then 15. two .10 or so.  all four = .77.

I May have have some purchase info.

Thank you so Much for Your Replies!!

Ideally you should make backups of your wallet before you do anything else.

If you are running windows you can use these instructions to make backups.

Click the windows start button, then copy and paste the line of text below into the search box that appears, then press the enter key to open the hidden folder containing your multibit wallet files.

%appdata%\Multibit

This is what your search box should look like after you have copied and pasted the line above into it.

https://s8.postimg.org/gs62vzeet/start.png

Backup everything inside the folder that opens, including all the files and sub-folders.

Afterwards keep that folder open and try these instructions to get your coins.

Start multibit, select the wallet containing your coins, then click "tools", then select "export private keys" as shown in the screenshot.

https://s11.postimg.org/okzi2wqb7/unconfirmed.png

A new tab should open like the one below. Select "do not password protect export file" at the bottom of the window, then click the "export private keys button".

https://s24.postimg.org/w4y592jdh/unconfirmed.png

Inside the folder you kept open there should be a new file with an extension ending in ".key". Open it in notepad and copy your wallet's private key. In the example file below the private key is the bit in red.

# KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE !
# Anyone who can read this file can spend your bitcoin.
#
# Format:
#   [[]]
#
#   The Base58 encoded private keys are the same format as
#   produced by the Satoshi client/ sipa dumpprivkey utility.
#
#   Key createdAt is in UTC format as specified by ISO 8601
#   e.g: 2011-12-31T16:42:00Z . The century, 'T' and 'Z' are mandatory
#
KwUVsx4nd4UTHUtNTPnLEEqapCFvNiBrVASBZPa1ZvStQbUD87VK 2017-03-26T01:36:45Z
# End of private keys

After you get your private key install the electrum wallet and use these instructions to import the private key into electrum.

http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#can-i-import-private-keys-from-other-bitcoin-clients

Hopefully your Bitcoins should immediately show up in electrum and be spendable from it. Don't let anyone know your private key because they can use it to steal your Bitcoins.

Multibit classic's maximum allowable fees aren't high enough for dealing with today's massive backlog of unconfirmed transactions. It's best to import the private key into electrum, enable dynamic fees in it, and spend your coins from there. That way you will get fast confirmations.

HI_TEC99

Thank you for your detailed explanation. Please see my screenshot - the blockchain is stuck at "waiting". I can see some transactions until 2015, but not after that. I have left my computer overnight on but it's still not showing the wallet balance also.

Also I cannot export the private key as the whole menu is grayed out. Please help, much appreciated!

The fee you used is extremely low, you're lucky it finally confirmed.

Thank you, I did not realise that. I used Multibit. I returned to BTC after 4 years LOL.

A lot has changed, wow.

by

The KYC AML procedures backlog is over a week now. Ethex India doesn't even bother to pick up phone call or reply to email.

Customer support is non existent.

The premium by all these three exchanges is ridiculously high - over 30% compared to coinbase / coinmarketcap rate.

Most exchanges or sellers have now opened to Indian card holders as we use debit and not credit card - so we can't chargeback them.

Thank you bro.

That was really helpful.

Yes I guess I had to set a higher reward.

I see more and more unconfirmed transactions with every week passing by.

Is this "Scaling" problem that's rumored to fork Bitcoin into two separate currencies?

.P.S.: Although I got in here at 2013, I didn't get back here until 2017 - missed out big time Sad

Here is the screenshot of the transaction. The wallet address was also as given by Poloniex.

I have never had this ever before. What can explain this? Where are the coins!

I had transferred 0.1 BTC from wallet.dat to Poloniex BTC address given in my account, with the hopes of exchanging into other crypto.

However, the transaction is showing as "not found". It is not appearing on blockchain.info

Where is this 0.1 BTC? The wallet is created though and shows 0 BTC balance.

The link to the transaction is https://blockchain.info/tx-index/cec1bb56f2ea5e7936dced00e3e06ad17ee5861ac74c06f36508b2c99a7d1075

It was done on May 22 2017. Have opened a ticket with Poloniex but there is no response as yet.

Please help me out.

I have $1000 to invest.

Theoretically, is it better to buy crypto, or buy mining contract?

And why?

Which are reputable mining contractors?

Thanks!
